Good point... Ohio State needs to stockpile all the talent they can get if they're losing 49-20 to Purdue.

Why's every thread gotta be about Ohio State? ;D

listening to that with Mike Valenti- think he made some great points in that Michigan needs the W more. Flat out.

Tucker is way ahead of schedule in year 2 and has MSU way better way faster than anybody thought possible, beat Michigan last year in Ann Arbor in his first year at MSU, and is basically playing with house money right now.

Harbaugh is in year 7, had his salary cut in half in order to be allowed to stay and not get fired- and if he loses this game- and then gets blown out at the end of the year by Ohio State- which is an inevitability- he's 0-2 vs his rivals and his seat goes right back to getting hot.

I think MSU needs the positive of a win more, whereas Michigan needs to avoid the negative of a loss more.

If UM wins, there's no narrative.  UM has better players, UM won, he's split with Tucker.  Carry on.  I think both schools are fine with that.  I don't think UM "gains" anything from that.

If MSU wins, there is a narrative.  Tucker is 2-0, he's already got MSU ahead of Harbaugh, etc...  I do think if MSU finishes with losses to UM, OSU, PSU, and goes 9-3, that's still a GREAT season.  I predicted 4 or 5 wins, and said I would happily sign up for 6 and a bowl bid.  But as far as momentum goes, it's a pretty hollow 9-3.  You win one of those 3, then it's 10-2, a possible NY6 bid, and firmly planted yourself as part of that group at the top of the East.  You can sell that in recruiting.

Harbaugh's seat will remain the temperature of the surface of Mercury until he either beats Ohio State or gets cashiered, whichever comes first.

No both schools aren't fine with you pot strirrer M wins and JH gets a stay of execution. He loses then the only thing saving him is an upset of the good guys in AA. Not that he'll be standing in any food lines whence dismissed. Don't know how losing to both of your rivals would boost recruitng unless you're sell immediate playing time

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is backing her alma matter when it comes to Michigan State and Michigan playing this Saturday in East Lansing.

She declared Oct. 25 to Oct. 31 “Rivalry Week” ahead of Saturday’s matchup where there’s a ton at stake. The winner will get even closer to clinching a berth in not just the B1G Championship Game, but the College Football Playoff as well.

Despite her 2 kids going to Michigan, she wasn’t about to falter and support her rival school.

“Watching the Spartans and Wolverines battle for the Paul Bunyan trophy is one of our state’s greatest traditions. University of Michigan’s undefeated streak will come to an end Saturday in The Woodshed. I can’t wait to cheer on the Spartans! Tuck Comin’. Go green!”
