Oddly MSU has played better in Ann Arbor recently.  Since 2014, when Michigan was a dumpster fire, and Hoke got fired, MSU is 3-1 in Ann Arbor, but 0-2 in East Lansing
a trend that won't last too long

Also, I want it on the record that rivalries are my favorite part of college football, but I hate absolutely everything about this rivalry, and always have, even rooting from both sides of it. It's gross and personal and nasty, and not in fun ways.

90% of the terrible fan behavior I have seen in person, has been at Michigan-MSU games.  And it's always the home fans, with the confidence of 80% of the fan base at their back
Yes, very personal game for me and many Michiganders.  And the bad behavior is not limited to the fans either.  Having the game at Noon will help keep the lid on a lot of it.  Both fan bases should enjoy being undefeated for a few more days.

No idea how this game goes.  When I think of Sparty I think of how they handled Miami (FL) on the road and the way they did it.  If Michigan can control the ball on offense and pressure Thorne on defense it may be enough to win the game.  One thing is for sure, neither team will be holding anything back.

transitive property doesn't work in football.

every game is always unique in and of itself and different. games are always about match-ups. sometimes one team matches up better in this area or that or not as good in this or that- and that's why you can see such drastic swings when comparing common opponents.

will absolutely be a tough game- leaning towards MSU right now just because they a) at home and b) have the much better QB. Thorne can make plays- he can make stuff happen. Cade cannot.

Regardless, whomever wins this one will set themselves up for a nice run I think. Spartans win this one- they'll cruise into Columbus 10-0. With the way Penn State run defense has looked and as bad as their offense has been- Michigan wins this one in EL- they've got a real shot to go into that season finale at home vs Ohio State 11-0.

This is definitely a HUGE match-up, winner takes all the marbles type game.

Maybe Michigan will put McCarthy out there more?  It seems like they've been getting him ready for something.  McCarthy lacks McNamara's experience but has a better arm and is a real threat to run the ball which Sparty will have to defend.

UM is going to need McCarthy this weekend. They will not win otherwise, in my opinion.

this is the truth
from my vantage point, Huskers at East Lansing and Wolverines in Lincoln, Michigan is the better team.
but, even if not a intense rivalry game, this game will be much different than either of those games vs the Huskers.  Add the rivalry and it's a crap shoot.

Martinez rushing vs Michigan 8-38, vs State 20-65

both defenses defended the QB run well, but one or two first dawns can make a difference

Yes after seeing the highlights I don't see how you keep him out - he certainly adds another dimension

Tell you what alot of Programs would like to have him under center IMO.I would If tOSU didn't have Stroud and McNamara right now doesn't appear to approach those abilities. But he's pedestrian and moves the chains.I don't blame Mdot if he gets all :character0029:

Agree 100%.

Need a passing game on the road in a tough environment vs a really good team. McNamara definitely can't provide you with this. McCarthy might be able too.
