Yup he was a good 'un in college, really fun to watch.  Died way too young.
Ya read an article on the accident - apparenty he had some weed/liquor in his system but just traces. The stretch of road was tagged as high accident volume and "A local resident who preferred to remain anonymous said that he had lived in the area for seven years and still got scared every time he pulled out onto the road where Benson died."
"Let us endeavor so to live - that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry." - Mark Twain

It's pretty twisty and hilly-- it's where all the motorcyle riders go to unwind their bikes.  There used to be dozens of white crosses lining the road where people had run off and died, but those were all removed when they did some roadwork/expansion a few years back.

Joe Orduna was the leading halfback on Nebraska’s first national championship team.  In 1970, Orduna scored a team high 15 touchdowns and rushed for 897 yards.  Part of a 1-2 punch with Jeff Kinney, Orduna earned All Big 8 honors in 1970.
