Clemson has traditionally been a .500 team in a trash ACC (both pre-and-with FSU), until they were able to finish off their first undisputed MNC campaign.
I know they weren't great for a while but I wouldn't call them trash. These are the records of teams against 1-A (FBS) teams

only.

Going to a look of the past 30 years, of course they look better because of their recent terror of success.

Looks like Clemson won the stat sheet, minus bad turnovers at critical times.

I wouldn't stick a fork in them just based on this (very bad) loss. Maybe not #9 in the country good, but finishing ranked is still within the realm.

they were billed as a top 10 team, top 2 contender for the ACC title and potential playoff team. they ain't that. FSU is going to run away with the ACC and meet little to no resistance there.

but clemson has way too much talent on the roster to be horrible or unranked. probably an 8-4 type team this year ranked in the bottom of the top 25.

Clemson has certainly enjoyed a good run over the past decade or so, but before that, there's a reason there was a phrase called "Clemsoning."

I didn't watch the whole game but it looked in the first half like Clemson was trying to play in a phone booth. Not attacking downfield at all.

Oh Hellz Ya I would be shocked if they didnot finish in the top 20 - right behind the Buffs ;D Otherwise those pollsters that studied the off season and put them at 9 must have attended Screamin' A Smiths research academy

have seen a lot of QB gurus and former QBs gush about what they saw from JJ. He looked really good. Have to keep building that chemistry and throwing 30+ times next 3 games.

This to me is a weird thing to say.

"For some reason, we thought we were somebody else. We thought we were the two-time national champion Georgia Bulldogs, or something. I don't know what we thought. But we were mistaken."
even weirder...Brian Kelly now refusing to admit to local media that he said days before the game on his radio show that LSU was going to "beat the heck" out of Florida State.....even though they all have him on audio recording saying...we're gonna beat the heck out of Florida State.

Eh, to me this is a big so what?  We beat up coaches for just mouthing through coach-speak, and then on the flip side we beat them up for speaking with emotion.  No-win situation for them.

Other than the millions and millions of dollars, I guess. :)

Either way, I don't give a lick about that kind of stuff.

it is a big so what. which is why Kelly should've just said yeah, I said it. I was confident in our guys. I didn't get the job done, I didn't do good enough job coaching. instead...he immediately threw his players under the bus after the game (like he always does after a loss) and then when asked by local media (who are obviously upset with him over the loss and have an agenda) about saying something he clearly said on his radio show- anyone can hear it- he literally said it- plain as day- the guy flat out said I didn't say that and I would never say something like that. just more or less shows you how gigantic of a doucher that guy is.
