Yeah I know, offseason topic.  Getting close to punting this to some place 10 pages down.

But for now...

What constitutes a sandwich?  Is it strictly defined as two pieces of bread, with some kind of filling in-between?  And if so, are hamburger buns considered to fulfill that definition of bread, and thus a hamburger is a sandwich?

What about the two pieces of bread specification, is that even valid?  Is a sub on a roll that's split down the middle, NOT a sandwich, because it is not technically two pieces of bread?

And if a sub is considered a sandwich, when it's really more of a bread-based wrap, then are ALL wraps fair game to be called a sandwich?  Is a taco a sandwich?

When I was in grade school, pretty much every day I took my sack lunch.  And my friend and neighbor who was Mexican-American, also brought his sack lunch.  And we'd sit down for lunch together and he'd open his lunch and bring out a refried bean and cheese taco, or a carne guisada taco, or an al pastor taco, and he always referred to them as his "sandwich."  

This is a deep and earnest topic obviously.  I'm going to reach out and classify the term "sandwich" as the broadest English term, originated of course by the Earl of Hamburg, as I dimly recall.  Maybe it was the Duke of Frankfurt?  Whatever.

Sandwich - Anything between two slices or folds of mostly wheat product baked into a semi flattish shape.

Hamburger - where the anything is ground something.

Hero - some kind of sandwich

Taco - another kind of sandwich

Philly - one with gooey cheese product and thinly sliced beef

Hotdog - one with a tubular substance interspersed of rather unknown compsition including parts

Life on Earth is complex and varied, but every living organism on the planet builds its proteins from the same set of 20 amino acids. All proteins in a human body, for example, are made up of some combination of the 20 common amino acids. 

I think protein is inherent in all life forms.  I don't know of an exception.  Lettuce has protein.

But eating a lettuce sandwich is not gonna keep you from being hungry in 45 minutes. An avocado sandwich would be better.
