I'm too lazy to dig it up, but saw some online banter of all of the replacement scenarios for Nebraska or Iowa St.  Of course, this was speculative on the part of some fan with too much time on their hands, but the Nebraska v Iowa State idea was my favorite.

That would make 2 Big 8 games for UNL this season.

I like it.

doesn't the Big 12 use Arrowhead for Big 12 champ games any longer?

I thought it was all Arlington now. Could be wrong.

Effect of Hurricane Florence could give Nebraska more scheduling options for a 12th game

Central Florida and North Carolina canceled their Saturday game. UCF has a bye date Oct. 27, and the schools are discussing the feasibility of playing the game at a later date this season. North Carolina State — which hosts West Virginia that day — is reportedly considering canceling its game already.

There’s a decent chance UCF-UNC doesn’t ever happen. The question would become: Would Nebraska even think to consider the Knights for an Oct. 27 game? Would UCF consider saying yes? Is it possible UCF would be the favorite in that game?

Another game that could be canceled is East Carolina’s game at Virginia Tech. ECU also has a bye date Oct. 27, and since the Hokies are a nonconference game, the Pirates could easily slide another nonconference game into Oct. 27 without affecting its league slate. ECU is canceling classes starting after noon on Tuesday.

Another option is Marshall, which plays at South Carolina on Saturday. Columbia, South Carolina, is 140 miles or so inland from the Atlantic Ocean, and if weather forecasters are right, the storm will track north and may not considerably affect weather for the Gamecocks-Thundering Herd game. But Marshall also has an Oct. 27 bye date, and South Carolina, being a nonconference opponent, would be easy to replace.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nebraska finds an opponent from the batch of schools that cancel this weekend.

@Hawkinole , I really like the UNL/ISU at Arrowhead on December 1 idea.  I know a lot of people on here are not big fans of neutral site games but that would just work for a lot of reasons.  There is also a decent possibility that one or both could be playing for bowl eligibility so there would be something on the line, like a CG.  It would be fun to have a neutral-site quasi-bowl game effectively for the right to go to a real bowl game.

Fearless can correct me if I am wrong, but as a newspaper carrier growing up in the 1960s and 70s I avidly read "The Big Peach," the sports section of the Des Moines Register, and believed from the reporting that Iowa State considered Nebraska its most important Big 8 rival. Iowa State almost never won. But geographically they were close.  It was sort of like Iowa almost never beating Minnesota between 1900 and 1979, but Iowans embraced Minnesota as being Iowa's biggest conference rival.

I went to Arrowhead Stadium to watch FSU - ISU in the early 2000s.  I was surprised how many people from Iowa State I knew while walking through the parking lots and teaching their kids the Tomahawk Chop. There were a lot of Iowa State people at that game in KC.  Iowa State people would absolutely embrace the opportunity to play Nebraska in Kansas City.

I've attended more Nebraska games outside of Lincoln in Ames than anywhere else.   It was an easy (relative) drive for us from WI to see Nebraska every other year.   I'm not sure where they viewed their Big8 rivals in order, but no doubt they came out to 'Beat Nebraska'. Those shirts were for sale everywhere on gameday.     Just guessing, I think Cy beat Nebraska in 76, 77, 92, 02. 04, 09, with a tie in '72 maybe since 1960.   I never did see goalposts come down faster than the '92 game.

I went to Arrowhead for a game Oklahoma State sold to KC in '98.   4th quarter PR TD by Joe Walker and a goaline stand by Mike Rucker to end the game for the Huskers.   That was a lot of fun, I drank a lot of beer.  There were signs though that Solich's offense wasn't going to get very far that season.

I'd vote Nebraska v ISU at Arrowhead over every other scenario possible.  Of course I won't show up for it.  That XII CCG with OU v N was a frozen game.   I seem to recall KSU/OU being really cold too.

Sometimes in the dead of winter they are playing golf in KC. It's just far enough south they catch some warmer weather, and far enough north they experience winter, too.
