“I’ll be honest, it took me a little bit mentally to get on board,” says Burgess’s mother, Lisa Hopkins, who studied drama and art history before obtaining an MBA.

She never had much exposure to the trades, but she says she’s thrilled her son has found something he loves with good prospects: “He’s already thinking, ‘I want to buy my first house by the time I’m 24. I don’t have any debt, I’m off to the races.’

please direct me to the place that indicates money being spent to send these folks back and not to a US city

the number of illegal immigrants has doubled under Brandon's office
Sure, just go ahead and change the subject when you get shown to be wrong.

You said Biden is spending $300M on Ukraine's border and none here. We spend $17.5B annually, here, on our border.

Seems like a waste of money given what's going on down there right now.

It seems pretty obvious to me that a wall or barrier in some areas is useful in helping Border Patrol "control" the border.  It's also obvious to me that in some parts of the border, a literal wall probably makes no sense.  But what we hear is one extreme or the other.
give me an example

Along the Rio Grande for example there is a flood plain which can be extensive.  You can't build a wall directly on the river, it would wash out, but the general area may be used for say golf courses or ranches or even cities.  So, maybe you could build one 3-4-5 miles inland, but then you'd have a significant portion on the other side of the wall which folks would often desire to visit.

Another example would be a mountainous region which is intractable to anyone but experienced climbers.  And you have areas of desert which are sensitive ecological areas where perhaps you'd prefer to allow animals to go back and forth, if not humans.  There are parklands along the river in areas as well where a wall would despoil the intent of the park.

Do you think a human made wall is needed here?

The man-made one seems to be fine.

Rather than claiming one solution is best all along the border, I'd talk to Border Patrol and determine which areas need a wall, which need another kind of barrier, and which needs no barrier at all.  And of course, if the wall is set back from the river, anyone crossing the river short of the wall is on US territory and can make an asylum claim.

They turn themselves in to BP as soon as possible knowing they will get released.

I'd overhaul the entire immigration system, though I fear Congress  would mangle that badly.

You can build walls in floodplains.

You can, but right on the river abutting it?  Probably not feasible everywhere, so you set it back some, even a few feet.  And folks who cross the river to those few feet are not in the US asking for asylum.

I think a wall is useful in some areas along the border, to say it isn't is fatuous, to me.  I also think it's unneeded on other parts of the border.

Probably, and I'm sure giving $300M to Ukraine for their border will probably be a waste too.

But I responded to a simple complaint with a simple response. It was deliberately restricted in depth/breadth to merely show that the simple complaint was asinine and incorrect.

So long as water can get through it (i.e. you cannot fill in a floodway) it can be done. This is called venting.

But technically, the border is generally the thalweg of the river (in Land Surveying theory).
