These restrictions on drilling have not "yet" had much impact on US oil production because most of it happens on private lands.  And oil production companies are not going to explore and drill  excessively if they have other good options.  This stuff is mostly for show to pander to the enviro types without having much or any real impact.

At some point, production of private lands will of course "dry up" and these restrictions could have impact.

In my opinion, Biden has had little impact on gasoline prices in the US aside from the SPR release.  A ton of this stuff is pure imagery.

Tell that to Alaskans.

You are also ignoring that the area is rich in minerals that that US greatly needs.

No drilling, no mining.

Maybe so, but it's all somewhere in the future even if it was opened up.  I personally would open it up with restrictions, but I don't think this sort of thing impacts oil prices today, at all.  It's imagery.  Any actual production from those areas would be 5-6-7-8 years off in the future.  Meanwhile, they just will drill more on private lands instead, where it's probably a lot cheaper anyway.

OPEC+ does have a significant impact on oil prices, or they can at times.  They already claim to be cutting production to keep prices higher.  There usually is cheating going on.

Of course, we'll all be driving EVs in the "near future", so it's all moot.

(That comment is sarcasm of course but I've run across a few people who believe it despite hard numbers.  And maybe at some point, EVs could cut demand for oil, but I think that point is pretty far off, maybe 2040, maybe longer.)

We can't just think about today. We should always be looking to the future because we don't know what will happen.

Control what we can control. We cannot control or rely on OPEC or China. We can definitely control what happens on our land.

China is in control from a mineral standpoint, and they are restricting or banning exports of critical components for chips and other technology.

Alaska is rich in... guess what? Why shoot ourselves in the foot? Why?!?

As I said, it is imaging, largely, not substance (though it may have substance, but I never heard that ANWR was rich in minerals, but it's a huge area).

The Administration has to send out signals it's combatting climate change to appease its base.  At the same time, it cannot note that US oil production is at record levels, it hopes that fact is swept under some rug, and of course Republicans don't want that known either.

We walk by this building almost daily and have commented about how well it is maintained, and it is in a great location.  That HOA fee is high, to me, for a small unit.

Who says a sweet pad in the middle of Midtown has to cost an arm + leg? A Frisbee’s toss from Piedmont Park ATL[/iurl], this 2-story, 16-unit, 1923 building on 12th Street has charm to spare. Owning this smartly updated, 1-bedroom, 1-bath piece of it will cost $249K (plus $400 monthly HOA fees). With its contemporary-style kitchen and appliances, it’s modernized but not TOO modern, with perks that include refinished hardwoods, a communal deck, and bike rack in the basement. Bystandards, the 623 sq. ft. isn’t huge, but also by today’s ATL standards, neither is the price

Anyone with a pulse should know that fact.

Gotta play the long game HERE, when it comes to energy and technology. Playing for today is foolish and all it does is garner votes from one side or the other.

"We're" stupid.

Obviously it's an election year.  I don't expect "logical" actions out of DC, especially this year.  It's all predicated on appeasing one's base, or nearly all.  Biden, like Trump, has a fractured base.  It's an interesting situation, to me.  Usually, the Republicans and Democrats largely line up behind their candidate, with some grumbling, and the election is decided by turnout, the 20% in thhe middle, and key state outcomes.

In this one, we have quite a few who would normally check R or D but who really despise their candidate.  I think some will stay home, more than normal, or vote for "Goofy".  But usually as the day nears, most folks hold their noses and vote for "their guy" as the LOTE.

After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year outside of Buffalo, New York scientists found traces of copper cable dating back 120 years.
They came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago.
Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, in the weeks that followed, a Wheeling WV archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet somewhere just outside Woodsdale.
Shortly after, a story in the The Intelligencer read, "WV archaeologists, reporting a finding of 200 year old copper cable, have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the New Yorkers.
One week later, a local newspaper in Barton Ohio reported the following: "After digging down about 30 feet deep in his pasture near the community of Hell’s Kitchen, Pete Riley, a hell of an engineer and a self-taught archaeologist reported that he found absolutely nothing.
Riley has therefore concluded that 300 years ago, Ohio had already gone wireless."

This from Eleven Warriors a Buckeye Board

Did anyone else hear Nueheisal and Childress on College Sports Today this morning talking about Harbaugh?  That was one of the funniest segments I have ever heard.

They were talking about how Jim Harbaugh’s living in an RV right now and they played some recent quotes from Jimmy boy.  Jimmy was talking about how proud he is that he learned how to empty the RV’s septic waste system and that you know you’ve become a real dad when you can empty your own septic waste system.

Childress said to Neuheisal, “Rick you spend a ton of time in LA and you know how when you’re in Southern Cal you see the strangest people….  Walking down Hollywood Blvd, muscle beach and all around LA you just see a lot of weird people.  Rick, don’t you think Jim Harbaugh may well be the weirdest one you see?”

Neuheisal said “he’s the weird guy trying to be old school and he somehow convinced the UM fan base that what he was doing was cool.  He like took them on the old fashioned tea cup ride at Disney and convinced the fan base isn’t this fun, this is the greatest thing ever””

They said eventually a documentary will come out about all of this and Jim Carey will need to play Harbaugh
------------------------------
other posters there chiming in
This resembles a Turd Ferguson post ;-)
-----------------------------
So Jim’s basically “LIVING IN A VAN, DOWN BY THE RIVER..!!”  Perfect.
-----------------------------

--------------------------------------
Harbaugh truly is the Cousin Eddie of football coaches, although I like Cousin Eddie a lot lot better.
------------------------------
BET
--------------------------------
LA deserves Crazy Jim Harbaugh. And you have to wonder; does  Crying Sharon Moore stiil 'fucking love' Jimmy?
---------------------------
They are(M Fans) as predictable as raccoons at garbage cans. Yeah, you can eat whatever garbage you want, but it's still garbage.....but hey, isn't a wolverine a racoon with a bad haircut?

Winning is pretty cool.
