This is common for new places here before they get the license but not $75.

I'd be tempted to bring a giant box of Franzia "Fruity Sangria" and tell them "cork this."

Of course now I'm reminded of several more fast food burger chains I hadn't considered.  Dairy Queen, Sonic, Jack In The Box, and Carl's Jr/Hardees.  Man there sure are a lot of them.

Oh, and Checker Burger out in Florida.  For some reason I really liked those, when visiting my sister who lived there.  But I haven't had one in probably almost two decades.

I was stoked when I saw a Rally's in Phoenix, being used to Rally's and Checkers in FL.  It's not some great thing, but I'm nostalgic for it because they'd throw us a few Checker burgers to eat during 3-a-day football practices in high school.  The fries are unique.

Yup.  I know Atlantans who claim something similar about the Varsity here.  I hadn't been in eons, so I took my wife.  It's actually dated, not very clean, greasy over priced not very good "fast food" in a "unique" setting.  The funny thing is back in the day, ALL of the workers behind the counter were black, no exceptions, ever, now they are close to 50-50.

Anyway, i don't really recommend it.

The Varsity

100% spot-on

you same some awfully stupid things, but this one takes the cake. that is a fantastically terrible idea.

yeah, just nuke Iran. great idea. that'll solve it! hey, they should also just ramp up their war crimes to the next level and continue to ethnic cleanse the Palestinians and just annex the occupied territories while we're at it.
It's not stupid, it's simply fast-forwarding to the end of the movie.
Either the Jews will have a permanent state in the middle east or they won't.

Don't pretend decades of proxy-wars is any better.  It's just slower.

I doubt we'll see any real peace in the ME in out lifetimes.  The area is set up for strife.  If one side is ascendant militarily, the other side will resort to "asymmetric means" to fight.  We often see the slogan "From the river to the sea" etc., but that literally would mean elimination of the Israeli state.  I can't see that happening.  Nor do I expect the "mullahs" and other influencers in the Arab states to decide enough is enough, many of them derive their power from the ongoing conflict.

As for one side nuking the other, well, that is an ultra simplistic nonsolution in my view.  Folks tend to view a nuclear weapon as being more destructive than it is, city busters, etc.  The Israeli nukes are probably in the 100-200 kiloton range, I'd guess, and probably weight 2,000 pounds, meaning they aren't that easy to get from A to B if much distance is involved.  And they may have 50 of them?  This presumes they are thermonuclear, which also isn't confirmed.

A country the size of Iran could withstand a complete nuclear attack by Israel and still have a lot left.  But this is entirely in the hypothetical range of course, not really worth much thought.

As for the "embassy" attack, I find it a bit odd there isn't more in the news about it.  Some reports use the term "consulate", which to me sounds wrong.  It should be "embassy".  It definitely is a building next to the Iranian embassy, and could well be considered part of it, or not, which is my point above.  I don't see any wall or enclosure around both.  It's POSSIBLE it is an adjacent building the Iranians rent out that has no diplomatic status at al, and it's possible it's part of the embassy.  The "news" is unclear to me, or equivocal, or confusing, or just wrong (which is not a shock).

It's not a headline item on any major news source I peruse.  Most reports today are speculative about how iran will react, speculative meaning "Talking Heads are Guessing Again".

So, maybe it is, maybe it isn't, and maybe it doesn't matter much except legally, which also as noted doesn't really matter either.

College is just... man.  I keep telling my kids that welding and plumbing are excellent careers.

I might choose a $100 K a year college for my kid IFF I were wealthy and wanted my kid to marry another wealthy kid.

perhaps colleges will price themselves out of the degree printing press business

fewer will take out the loans and the US will be a better place
