My question is...for the ultra rich who just borrow against their stock or whatever....they do eventually have to pay the bill.  You can't just keep rolling loans over forever.  So when and how do they eventually pay back the loans?  Buffet is like 85 years old...no way he's just been rolling loans for 60 years.

Elon Musk had to pay a tax bill either last year or year before in the billions.

Either way, those bellyaching about the rich not paying their fair share sometimes miss the point that the federal gov't really doesn't need their money anyways, because all they will do is waste it and run up more debt.  What the Feds need is some kind of check/balance system for keeping the gov't in some semblance of financial responsibility.

Not keep running up the tab on "American People Express".
their stock appreciates...they then secure new loans at super low interest rates to pay off the old loans. rinse. repeat.

banks are dying for not only the family/private banking business of people like Bezos, Musk, Buffett, Gates, etc., etc., but what they want even more is the corporate banking business of the companies they control/have massive sway over.

these aren't regular people. the big banks cater to them like you would not believe.

I gotta believe the short interest on the new Trump stock "DJT" is huge.  I'm looking at some put options on it, but they are expensive because everyone else is as well.
shorting the stock of a dude who has followers in an almost cult-like religion is dangerous. ask the shorts who got wiped shorting Tesla with Elon Musk. That crazy shorting was before he bought Twitter and proceeded to publicly sh*t all over the Biden admin, the branch Covidians, and before all the shitlib blue-anons that used to worship him and lick the sweat from his balls started to hate him of course.

Russian assassination unit linked to Havana syndrome and the US allegedly covered it up because they don't want to confront Russia.

JFC the media is still going on with this bullsh*t debunked into infinity "Havanna Syndrome"?

of course the rich pay the most in tax. duh: they have all the god damn wealth. lol. but even if we "taxed the rich" - there still would not be enough money to keep up with the insane spending of the federal government. we're still running deficits. study after study has shown this.

I do tend to agree with Warren Buffett when he says it's not right that his secretary pays a higher % of her income in taxes than he does. That does not seem quite right to me. The way we tax doesn't seem right at all to me. Perhaps a VAT tax or consumption tax is the way to go. Also think some money from property taxes should go to the federal gov't- which provides a military to protect your property from would be foreign actors- the state doesn't do that. And if you really want to do something about climate change and "taxing the rich" - slap hefty taxes on private jets, megayachts, mansions over 10,000 sq ft (who the F**K needs a house bigger than this- even if you have 10 kids)- you know- excesses in consumption.

Social security and healthcare obviously need massive overhauling in this country. Not quite sure what the solution is there. But what we're doing, ain't working. Feels pretty stupid to me that the US doesn't have a sovereign wealth fund either. Most countries have them. Some states in the US have them, and they are relatively small- but the federal government doesn't. Would seem to make a lot of sense to me that we start one. We should have a soverign wealth fund with trillions in AUM by now.

I've noted before how the truly wealthy don't need any taxable income (they usually will have some, but don't need to).  So, their tax rates are inherently going to be low, or even zero.  Imagine I own a hundred million dollars in Apple stock.  I need say $2 million a year for my lifestyle.  I borrow off my stock holding that $2 million tax free.  I can do this for a long time especially if the stock appreciates.  I may pay 5% interest or so, maybe less.
yup. that plus don't forget the foundation/non-profit angle. Bill Gates' sweaty ass has been playing that angle for years to avoid paying taxes.

Ahh, Europe.

Utopia!

There is a big difference between being rich and being wealthy. We've discussed this at length in the past. The top 1% earners are rich, but possibly not wealthy. If they are both, that's great.
Europe is awesome to visit, great to live in if you're rich. Other than that, the place sucks.

My new Director is from Venezuela, and has family in Spain where he has also spent many years of his life.  He doesn't brag but to live the lifestyle he does in Spain, his family has got to be wealthy.

And even then, he much prefers the USA in general and Texas specifically.  He talks about the socialist countries and how they just lull you to sleep, strip away your motivation to actually produce anything.  He describes it as "a prison... a beautiful prison."

Corporations are generally not evil. Of course, there are some. FTX comes to mind.

Unelected bureaucrats and government employees make up most of the evil in this country.

Teacher unions are right there too, and AFSME.
corporations aren't evil. governments aren't evil. people are evil. it's the people in them that are evil, which in turn make them evil. and it usually boils down to: power and greed. the more powerful and more money a corporation has the more prone it is to abusing it's power and participating in evil. this is why it's usually the very largest, most profitable corporations on earth which are typically the most fcked up, vile corporations on planet earth- and the people who run them are often corrupt assholes. governments are no different. the unelected bureaucrats in the US have WAY too much fcking power and the US gov't needs to be chopped in like half. we need to eliminate a bunch of federal agencies and lay off a ton of bureaucrats which are largely ineffective and mostly corrupt. the US gov't was never intended to be this large or have this many agencies or bureaucrats. for MOST of our history we had few agencies and bureaucrats, these are all new inventions of the last 75 years or so. they don't need to be around forever, they don't have a right to exist, they are NOT the government- they are agencies the elected government chartered and allows to exist- and we can vote a new government in who would promise to throw them to the trash bin of history if we wish.

And Spain is one of the cheaper countries to live in Europe believe it or not. UK, France, Germany, pretty much all the Scandinavian countries- good bit more expensive. If I lived in Europe it would probably be the mediterranean coast in Spain or in Italy. Not just cheaper cost of living than the northern countries, but weather is obviously much better. So is the food.

America is the only place I would ever live. I love this god damn place. And you don't realize how great we have it and how f'ing lucky we are until you get out and see other parts of the world.

Feds widening their probe into Sean "P Diddy" Combs. Looking into his shooting incident at a nightclub in New York in 1999 where he may of have used his then much less famous at the time girlfriend Jennifer Lopez as a gun mule.

No thanks to any more property tax to the feds. Or any kind of tax. We’re talking about the same institution that has a 3-4 trillion dollar budget and still fucks it up. And every other year the democrats blame the republicans for over spending , and then when they get in power they do the same , and the republicans cry foul but do the same every other election.

Newsflash:  We don’t need anymore “ defense”. Our military budget is already many multiples higher than any other country on earth. Combined, almost.

a) none of your property tax goes to the feds. it's a local tax. my suggestion wasn't that the feds be in charge of collecting a property tax, or in charge of assessing it- keep it local- maybe add a small something to all across the board and kick it up to the fed. this is the United States of AMERICA, not the United States of some sh*tty little town in Kansas that you live in. JMO.

b) brother, you're preaching to the choir on the "defense" budget. I've railed against it for years. It's insane. We have the most costly and most advanced weapons system in the entire world and nearly 900 military bases all around the globe. We have like a few hundred alone encircling China. But we're suppose to be scared of them and everyone else. Lol.
