I tend to be cautious about having government tell private companies how to operate, e.g., "No golden parachutes", much as that concept does get abused.

I'd rather have a silk parachute if I needed one, or nylon.

See?
It took an act of Congress to make the idea of a "breakfast food" a reality.

Yep, a congress with a D supermajority in both chambers.

You're a smart person.
You're also being dishonest, pretending that not having an ID is the big deterrent to suppressing votes.
Thus, you make having the conversation unworthy of my time.

Once you're being honest and refrain from cherry-picking nonsense, then we can talk.
Don't be a shill.  Be thorough.  Be honest.  Be worthwhile.
WTF is wrong with having an ID in order to vote?

American citizens* are required to have an ID to enter the country from abroad. You must have one to fly. You must have one to drive. You must have one to get a loan. You must have one to do just about anything. That's honest and worthwhile. Now you try it.

apparently, they didn't have better things to do back in 76

were they saving the nation from low levels of Cholesterol?

Suffrage continues to be especially restricted on the basis of age and citizenship status in many places. In some countries additional restrictions exist. In Great Britain and the United States a felon might lose the right to vote. As of 2022, Florida felons with court debts may not vote.

having an ID is the easy way to show your not restricted

If the issue is that it is too difficult to obtain an ID then that problem should be solved.

I think "both sides" try and stir up issues around voting, with considerable success.  It's another attempt to divide.

I'm pretty sure folks ate eggs for breakfast here (and abroad as well) long before 1976.  I know I did.  My high school breakfast was 4 fried eggs, grits, toast, OK, and milk.
Cold pizza not good enough

I really suspect those here "illegally" try and stay under the radar and very very rarely register to vote (usually if so by accident).  They won't want any attention.

There are currently 16 states (all of them red) where undocumented immigrants can get a drivers license

there are several red states where undocumented immigrants can vote in local elections

We better wake up

Right now the US has aprox 12 million undocumented immogrants and the are growing at about 2 million per year.

This is an invasion spearheaded by the dems and we better act before its too late

California fast-food workers will get $20 minimum wage, starting Monday : NPR

Setting aside the concept of whether there should be any MW at all, my "solution" would be to set it nationally at the highest it's ever been adjusted for inflation (1968) and attach a COLA and remove it from political 'discussion" on the national level.

I'd not such increases might not help workers much if they get fewer hours and/or find they have to pay more for goods and services because of this increase.

I support the concept of higher pay for workers rather than executives, but am not sure this is the best way to that.  Maybe it is.  It's already expensive in that state for most things.  MW in say Mississippi could well be lower with the same overall impact.
I just don't buy fast food any more, and price increases after this goes into effect will just dig me in farther on that. It's not that I can't afford it; it's that it's not worth it. Most of it isn't very good, so if it's priced as high as it's getting, there's no point.

I'll probably make the occasional exception for In & Out, and there are some really good independent Mexican joints with drive-thru around here that I don't know if it's quite something I'd call "fast food" but it's certainly close, that I'll still hit when convenient. But outside of road tripping, the main fast food chains aren't going to see my business.

I don't stop by often, but when I do I wonder why I'm not a regular

We have a lot of authentic Mexican drive thrus, yet there is still enough room in the market for Taco Bell, Del Taco and Taco Time to all exist simultaneously, along with Chipotle, Cafe Rio, etc.
