Yeah but a pretty substantial part of the economy.  Something like $382 billion in 2022.

I guess they can all just go become influencers and replace that revenue stream quick and easy-like.

I got my DL as soon as I could and bought a car as soon as I could - as well as being able to afford the insurance. My dad would not let me on his policy and forced me to get 100/300 on my own policy so long as I lived at home. I moved out at 19, but still kept the 100/300.

My kids were the same, but I bought their cars. I made them get their own 300/300 because that's what my umbrella required (and still does).

https://nypost.com/2024/03/25/business/california-chains-slash-workers-as-20-an-hour-minimum-wage-looms/

Hmm. Who could possibly have predicted this???

GrubHub and the like benefit.
awe schucks, too bad the completely corrupt governor of California couldn't push through a carve out for McD's, Taco Bell, or BK franchisees to avoid $20/hr min wage. guess only his close personal friend/top donor gets those. lmao.

Putting people out of business often isn't good for their health.

while probably true, QSR is an important chunk of the US economy. a better solution would be for the FDA to you know, do it's actual fcking job instead of tweeting about one of the safest, most widely used human medicines in history- and actually start to get a lot tougher and more stringent on food standards. follow the Europeans but go further. whole bunch of preservatives, food dyes, chemicals, artificial disgusting high-fructose corn syrup and bunch of other sh*t in US food and especially fast food that flat out should not be allowed.

California does not care about businesses, that much has been obvious for a long time now. fast food chains won't go out of business, workers will get fired and they'll cut back on staff or do only temp or part-time and they'll switch to more automation even faster than they were already planning, and they'll raise prices. the workers and end customer will wind up getting the shaft, as always.

I don't think you need to come up with plots as to why France would want to prevent Russian imperialism in Europe.

And I'm not sure why someone who insists that the European countries should stand up for themselves without US backing, would complain about a European country standing up for itself without US backing.  That's silly and contradictory.
I wasn't trying to make a comment on France wanting to prevent Russian imperialism in Europe.

Ukraine being in the EU sphere of influence or Russian sphere of influence really doesn't mean jack you know what to France at the end of the day, much like it doesn't mean jack to the US.

I was more trying to make a comment however on France most definitely wanting to see Russia fall flat on it's face and the Putin regime crumble, as Russia is becoming a major threat to ending French hegemony in resource rich Africa.

I 100% believe it's about time the Europeans go at it alone and grow up and leave Daddy America the fck out of all their bullshit. I just don't buy for a second that would happen. I think Macron is probably bluffing. Think it's doubtful that France is getting involved militarily without Daddy America.

Yeah....I mean, European countries are our bitch for a reason.  The reason is that we're their big bully friend standing right behind them when they get into an altercation.  If we don't back them up, there's no reason for them to be our bitch.
yup. they are our bitch because of NATO.

As the first Secretary General of NATO Hastings Ismay said- the reason for NATO's existence was "to keep the Soviet Union out, the Americans in, and the Germans down."

Which is why NATO continued on and expanded since the fall of the Soviet Union, to not only maintain US hegemony in Europe but grow it.

Sure but nobody's buying their shit.  Nobody outside of the other pariah states like North Korea and Iran, and a few other individual bad actors out there, believe even half a word that comes out of dickface putin's pustular piehole.

He can use it internally to attempt to whip his constituents into a fervor and justify further mobilizations, but the truth is he can and will do that anyway, without any reason at all-- the "cause" is irrelevant.  And it also doesn't change the fact that the only people left to conscript are those in the over-60 category.  He's thrown everyone else he can at the war and he's still been stalemated for 2 years.

He's a dead man walking and the Russian state is already effectively over.  The only damage he can do globally at this point, is if he decides to use nukes.  And I hope what you said earlier is right and that he won't do that.
they don't need anyone on the outside to buy their bullsh*t. no one already does. it's obvious as day that it was ISIS that did this. it's propaganda used to gin up support inside Russia to fight their illegal war vs Ukraine. they'll blame Ukraine and try to use the crisis to boost support within for the war effort.

I don't think the Russian state is effectively over. It's been bled and weakened for sure, but it's not done for. I think they're very likely going to win this thing- sort of direct US/NATO involvement. US sanctions have not worked and have in fact backfired. It's caused an acceleration of US dollar flight- many other countries have seen how the US weaponized the US dollar and world financial system the US controls and are having second thoughts thinking- do we really want to be part of that- do we really want one country to have that much control. Ukraine is running out of men and has lost 20% of it's territory and have not been able to gain an inch back with their counter-offensive. The US population most definitely does not want to get directly involved in fighting a war in Ukraine vs Russia and are running out of patience with cutting blank check after blank check and want an end to the war.

I won't pretend to get inside Putin's head, but I would guess the only likely scenario he's using nukes is if he's backed into a corner- and that corner would be the US sending troops on the ground to fight Ukraine's war for them and attacking targets inside Russia with missile strikes.
