Local BBQ joint is doing 1/2 price ribs on Thursday nights.  They also have local pints for only $4.  Last week my i s c & a aggie wife and I got out of there splitting a rack of ribs, with two pints of sides, and two beers, for under $35.  And we had enough ribs and sides for lunch the next day.

In a world where I'm regularly spending almost $40 for BBQ lunch just for myself, that's a heck of a deal.  Ribs are excellent, too.

On the flipside, due to last year's super long drought and some untimely freezes since then, this year's crawfish crop is going to be the worst in years, maybe decades. They're smaller and way more expensive than usual.

My wife was dying for some over the weekend so we went to one of our usual restuarants and they were $19/lb cooked.  This is a little early in the season, but in a typical year by April, that same restaurant will be down to $8/lb cooked.

Crazy times.

I’m not the biggest ribs guy (compared to other BBQ), but a deal with leftovers is always a good idea.

Will do.

He's from Chandler, AZ but he went to UT. Smart kid. Computer Engineering with a Computer Science minor.

Was working for some big tech firm in SF and he told them he'd quit if he couldn't move and work remote.

They paid for his move. Been in ATX for 5 years now, I think.

Making the rounds this morning is the new World Happiness Report. The main headline you'll see is that the U.S. dropped from 15th to 23rd.
What's not as clear, except for this WSJ article (paywalled: https://www.wsj.com/health/wellness/world-happiness-report-americans-top-20-0f59cf98
) and this Gallup article (https://news.gallup.com/poll/612125/happiest-country-earth.aspx) is that the drop is largely due to Americans under 30 years old.

Quote
"The report, which ranks countries by age group for the first time, shows the U.S. decline is at least partly attributable to Americans under age 30 feeling worse about their lives. The U.S. still ranks in the top 10 countries for those 60 and older, with a score of 7.258 out of 10. But for those under 30, it ranks 62nd, with a score of 6.392."

This is a concerning trend, regardless of the cause.

It shouldn't be surprising that the under 30 set is unhappy in this (and other) countries.
