Exactly.

There are fluff stories, of course, and stuff on crime in Fort Myers and Cape Coral. Not much crime anywhere else around here.

They do some good investigative reporting and were fantastic during Ian and other storms. Weather is top notch. And they have some really good talent, if you will.

What is your local news over there @Honestbuckeye and @Mdot21 ? All out of Miami?

Just lost a great field reporter to a station in Miami. I miss his work.

There are a couple of local news stations here that do a pretty good job.  A little bit of fluff, but plenty of important local stories that actually affect my family and me directly, plus very good coverage of national and international news with almost zero bias.

I'd gotten away from local news after moving out from my parents, but then maybe 7 or 8 years ago decided to start watching it.  After decades of crazily slanted national network news and CNN and Fox, it was such a welcome change.  Really remarkable to see actual news being reported with almost no editorializing.  It  CAN be done.

Well then I guess there aren't any toppers or standalone cast iron flattops that would work for you.

Maybe stainless steel?

Things age differently for us coasties.

im about 10-15 miles inland, and we still get a lot of rust from the ocean breeze. Right on the water, its like dog years. Things rust fast!

Yep, we're a mile or so away from the water here. Had to spend double on the hood for my outdoor kitchen, otherwise the standard one would rust - fast.

It's also why you never buy used cars from Florida. Every car I've looked at that came from Florida, even ones that aren't flooded out, have worse salt rust on the undercarriage than ones that have seen multiple Minnesota winters.

Funny story about that... My first job out here I worked with a girl who was also from Illinois. She apparently took her car in for some sort of service and the mechanic started freaking out once he got it up on the lift due to all the undercarriage rust from the salted roads in the winters. Saying everything needed to be replaced, etc...

A more experienced mechanic came over, asked her where the car was from, and said "don't worry, you're fine."

Oddly out here I'd say I'm well under 10 miles from the coast as the crow flies, but we don't have any problems with rust from being where we are.

No problem for us with the M-B in our four years here. Clean as a whistle.

Does Minnesota use a lot of road salt or is it too cold?

I don't even mind when it's being done- but just be upfront and honest about it. none of these jokers on cable news are, and always try to pretend like they aren't doing it.

yeah, lived here 20 years, never had this problem once. ever.

would NEVER buy a car from the midwest. the roads are complete and utter dogshit up there and the pot holes, salt, snow, ice, and sledge freaking RUIN cars up there.

Illinois used a ton and my car was in Illinois for 4 years before moving here. Still no rust at all, anywhere.

can be well under zero and the stuff still works
