Good to know.  There is a charity here that has a good record of getting folks off the street and cleaned up I support often.  The symphony gets a chunk, the park, some other items.

Dummies.
I agree. The guy who wrote that article is a dummie and anyone that would eat lab grown meat instead of you know, just eating the real thing is a mongoloid.

I have no inherent issue with lab grown meat in terms of eating it.  My issue really is cost.  You can grow meat cells as a culture, fine, but the protein and other ingredients have to come from somewhere.  And all that is very expensive today.    So, how do you get protein efficiently and cost effectively?

It's a "lab" thing literally, today.

At least the current plant based meats are, well, based on plants, fine with me, if you like them.  But to generate this in a lab?  It can be done, but at high cost.  No need to ban the stuff.

well first off, the sh*t looks disgusting and the texture is completely off. and even if they scaled up to bring costs down- production of the disgusting sludge fake meat would likely pollute at levels 4-25x higher than what cattle/poultry farms are right now according to a study done by the University of California.

I agree. Let stupid people eat stupid things. If someone wants to eat lead or lab grown sludge "meat", more power to 'em.

It looks like regular meat.  That's a  point of it, versus plant based "meat".  I doubt any of us have seen it in person.

Getting riled up about lab grown meat is way premature in my view.  WAY.  I don't see how they get past the cost issue.  If they do, it's years and years away from being commercial, if ever.

I don't want to eat lab grown meat. But banning it is stupid and unnecessary. It's entirely a political stunt.

Pun intended, it's just throwing out "red meat" for their constituencies.

At least the current plant based meats are, well, based on plants, fine with me, if you like them.  But to generate this in a lab?  It can be done, but at high cost.  No need to ban the stuff.
Some of the stuff that goes into "impossible" or "beyond" meat products isn't really all that good for you to eat in quantity.

My view is that if you're going to eat meat, eat meat. If you're not going to eat meat, don't eat meat. Eating fake meat is probably not the ideal option.

We have portobello "burgers" on the menu for next week. I'm under no delusions that it will taste like a "burger". To me it's not a burger "replacement". We like them because portobello mushroom sandwiches on a burger bun are, quite frankly, delicious.

My wife tried to get me to eat fake meat. Even she said it was disgusting. And it is.
