Soooooo good... Kind of a cultural fusion cuisine of a bunch of different sources... South American (obv), but with some Asian influence, and almost Italian at times (i.e. a lot of noodles/spaghetti).

I attached a recipe we make often. It's a nicely-spiced beef dish stir fried with vegetables (red onion, tomatoes, scallions, chile pepper), with a slightly thickened sauce using red wine, soy sauce, and beef broth, and then tossed with spaghetti noodles.

Freakin' delicious. Below picture is actually our version.

there are a bunch of peruvian places in south florida, and well they are pretty awesome. most of them here seem to be pretty much latin/asian fusion.

Hmmm just counting posters on this message board, I'm curious where our stats end up.

As far as I know MDT is the only poster who currently lives in Texas but isn't from here. lh320, Tulip, UTErin, and I, are all from Texas originally.

And then there's Florida, where badgerfan, HonestBuckeye, and MDot are all transplants.  Am I missing anyone?

So by my count, the state of Florida is "winning" this race 3-1. :)

Sylvester Stallone ditched California for Florida. He says it's a personal move, but he'll likely enjoy the lower taxes, too. (msn.com)

Yeah, the crazy thing about Peruvian is that it's sorta organically latin/asian fusion. Peru, like a lot of places on the West Coast of North America, ended up with a lot of Chinese laborer immigrants in the mid-1800s. That ended up infusing into the culture, including the cuisine. So you end up with influences that you wouldn't find in a lot of other South American cuisine.

I think a lot of people if you asked them about fusion cuisine between Latin and Asian cooking might be "uhhh, huh? You mean beyond kimchi tacos?" But turns out it's really freakin' good.

There's a restaurant here in Austin that does Tex-Mex/Hawaiian fusion.  It's pretty great.

I think that has changed.

In 2022, Abbott got 54% of the vote. DeSantis got 60%.

Exactly. We too have a good number of choices for Peruvian. It's great stuff.

One of the biggest disappointments during Covid was our cruise being cancelled. Lima to Miami. We were going to Lima 3 days early. Sucks.

It was cancelled on March 13, a week before we were to go (March 20). The people who were on the ship from Argentina to Lima got our cruise for free (minus the stops, but still got the Panama Canal). Nobody tested positive when the ship debarked in Miami.

My takeaway here is that while some are eating differently than in the past, some are also having to decide between eating or medicine.

We give to the local food bank of our choice, but not as much as we used to.

Our trip to Istanbul was cancelled due to COVID, but we just rebooked it for September, which will be my zero birthday while we're there.  We'll have a side trip for 2 days to the Dardanelles.

Going to places like Peru takes more bravery than I have ...
