One oddity in history was when Turkey and Greece were going at it on Cyprus when both were NATO members.

I'm a bit surprised Sweden wants to be added.  I had a chance to talk this briefly last year with a Swedish army officer, he was pretty noncommital about it.

I also think folks missed a chance to revise the whole Treaty when the SU clearly fell apart.  It at least merited a discussion, I think.  Instead, folks cut defense spending to the bone and took the money elsewhere without changing the military requirements.

Dickface Putin is just plan evil.

Alexei Navalny, a thorn in Vladimir Putin's side, died. What does it mean for Russia? (msn.com)

meh. I'm not one who buys into the movie caricature baddie evil villain guy of every world leader who the US happens to be at odds with. Putin is a dictator. Basically a modern day king. Nothing more or less. Newsflash: those people tend to have people in their country who don't fall in line killed.

Every leader kills people. Every single one. Even ours. Zero leaders of nations have clean hands. And FYI, our leaders have more blood on their hands than most. I'd guess that few leaders in history have been pure evil. Sure there have been sick ones that seem to enjoy it and kill to ethnically cleanse- but those are few and far between- someone like Hitler obviously is plain evil- wanting to kill people just because they are Jewish, Polish, Gay, Handicap, etc.., pretty fcking sick and twisted. I don't see the evidence that Putin falls in line with this lot.

Alexei Navalny certainly did not deserve his fate, but Russia isn't a western democracy or some bastion of freedom. It's a dictatorship with limited rights. I'm sure Navalny knew this would eventually be his fate, and he had some serious cajones to stand up for what he believed in and speak out. And if you really look into the guy, he's not exactly a saint. Serious racist, ultra-white christian nationalist, xenophobe, and homophobe. Does that mean he deserved to be imprisoned and killed for criticizing Putin, yeah not saying that. Of course not. No one deserves that. But the guy wasn't some leftist flower power hero- he had very little to no support in Russia, his views on race, religion, and sexual orientation definitely were shall we say extreme- and seems to me like he was basically nothing but a useful tool of the filthy corrupt criminal organizations known as CIA/MI6.

Putin has always been evil.  He's a con artist who deep down believes he's justified  in his atrocities.  He creates justifications of moral authority and those delusions are adopted by the Russian culture.

I typically lean right, but when it comes to Russia, I do not align with the idea he's misunderstood.  Russia is still what it was in the cold war.  They should never be trusted.
Every leader believes they are justified in their atrocities. I'm sure US Presidents/Senators definitely felt they were justified in destroying entire countries and killing millions of people in Vietnam (newsflash: they weren't), Iraq twice (newsflash: they weren't), Afghanistan (newsflash: they weren't), Libya (newsflash: they weren't), and Syria (newsflash: they weren't).

Same here on the metal. There is only one on the block and it looks like those barrels, which I do not like at all. Metal is about 30% lighter, I'm told.

I'm thinking that the concrete tiles are best for hurricane protection. More down force on the roof would help keep it in place.
the ultra modern looking houses with flat roof look best to me imo.

but on a standard home/roof- between shingle, tile, and metal- metal looks best in Florida imo. and metal is also best for hurricane protection. the tiles can become dangerous- wind will rip them right off and turn them into heavy concrete projectiles slamming into buildings & cars and wreaking havoc.

The bit coin thing appears to be gaining, again, which sort of worries me.  I have a very small position in the ether stuff (ETHE), I don't really understand the whole concept.

Ian took about 5-6 barrel tiles from my roof, which was built in 1994. Those tiles probably ended up in your back yard over on that side.

Hah!

I like having more weight, and the flat tiles are more aerodynamic than the barrels. This roof is gonna be around long after I'm gone. I'm having it beefed up to Miami codes too.

FORT MYERS, Fla.
The popular competition series, "Great Food Truck Race" by Food Network, will be filming an episode in Fort Myers on Wednesday, February 21st.

In this thrilling final episode, two food trucks will compete head-to-head, showcasing their culinary skills in a lively scene set at Centennial Park and downtown First Street.

From approximately 9 am to 11 am, Centennial Park will serve as the backdrop for host Tyler Florence's welcome to the final two chef teams, offering locals a chance to witness the excitement firsthand.

I don't love that branding but it's definitely clean.  I'd give it a try.  They should try a Vienna-style lager as well.

An example of really clean branding, done well:

Unfortunately their beer is just so-so.

Rock bands seemed to vie for ever more weird names, I guess beer is doing the same.
