Yep. Finally got a settlement on the claim I filed October 2, 2022.

Not in the same league of course, but we just got our work finished from a massive hailstorm that hit in June 2023.  Entirely new roof shingles and flashing, new gutters, new screens, new window sealant/caulking, two new windows, and a new garage door. 

Luckily all cars were in the garage at the time, I had JUST cleared it out so that my truck could fit in next to the wife's Jeep and we didn't have my daughter's car yet.

Students Of 1 In 4 Higher Ed Programs Earn Less Than High School Graduates, Study Finds

CBS Money Watch reports according to a new analysis of earnings data “from almost 4,000 colleges and other higher education programs,” Americans may be justified for becoming “increasingly skeptical of the value of a post-secondary education at a time when college attendance costs are soaring.” The HEA Group, which analyzed Education Department data to track students’ earnings outcomes, found that a decade after enrolling, “attendees of 1 in 4 higher education programs are earning less than the median annual income of $32,000 for high school graduates.” About 8 percent of institutions “show their students’ median income a decade after enrolling is less than $22,000 a year, or about 150% of the federal poverty line,” The HEA Group found.

Shingles are not allowed here, per HOA rules.

I hear it can be very debilitating.

Just as we moved in here, the roof was being redone.  It turned out to be much more expensive than had been forecast because it had been covered with loose stones, maybe they were glued.  Anyway, the city said those had to be removed.  There was an assessment on owners to pay for the increase, but we slid in under the time limit.

Most condos require a 2x payment of a month's HOA dues here when a condo changes hands, this place had been at 1x, which they changed a few months after we moved in.  It's not the end of the world, but both were pretty significant.  I spent half the savings on good booze, wild women, and fast cars, the other half ...

... I wasted.
