Ukraine did hold out with the initial attack which was before they got any real foreign aid.  I think they could have held on but without their counterattack which regained some territory in the first year.  The second counteroffensive appears to have been a poor choice militarily.

I suspect as much as anything today they need ammunition.

Estonia is worried.

Intel Warns Putin Is Prepping for a Military Clash with NATO (msn.com)
it’s from the daily beast, which means it’s not worth the fake internet paper it’s written on.

Putin can take Ukraine and Estonia and any other shithole Slavic/eastern European country out there. I literally do not give a single fk and I would seriously not be ok with a single American being injured or killed fighting in a war over there. We have enough problems here. Not our problem.

Putin can’t take the whole of Ukraine, which is not a NATO member and has had a real life army for like not even a decade. Highly doubt he’s going to try to start a war with NATO, which would mean getting into a direct hot war with the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Turkey and like 20 additional countries.

I don't know what that is. I just saw it on my MSN feed.

Yeah, we know you don't give a single fk about anything Putin does.

That said, Estonia IS a NATO member. So I don't think we should signal that he can take them and we're going to stand down. Nor should we encourage him to do so, as someone recently suggested.

I'm pretty sure you are right about that. I think they underestimated Ukraine's will too.

Although Ukraine would not be Ukraine any more without foreign money.
Same can be said for France, Poland, Belgium, etc.

Yup. The EU and all of it's predecessors were all organized and built at considerable expense, as well as considerable benefit, to the American taxpayer.

I don't want it to happen, of course, but.....

...an official war vs an official country would be a lot easier than the last 20 years of bullshit our military has had to push through.
I don't think Russia wants anything to do with us putting down the scalpels and endoscopes for our operations and picking up the bone saw to git 'er done.

Hey, at least if there's a nuclear exchange, we won't have to debate college football playoff models any longer...

If we fail to honor our treaty obligations, nobody would trust us any more for much of anything.

What's the benefit to the American taxpayer?

Is it travel, for those of us who can afford to?
