On college and the magical piece of paper:

spot on

but there are tons of folks that truly believe there's much more magic in the paper than that

That's unfortunate.  I would expect that was a random lemon.  Isn't that basically a Camry?  In which case, I've known many people who loved theirs and never had problems with them, and their service record is really good.

Also everybody with Hondas I've known have also liked theirs, and had hardly any problems with them.  For some reason my back never did well in Honda seats, so they're a no for me, but the wife likes hers.
Maybe it was a lemon but I'm sure as shootin' never gonna buy another Toyota again.

I might get by in life with never owning a Japanese vehicle

that was a big negative back in the 70s when the invasion started

Not sure if you have an outlet in/near your car with your parking situation, but I bought a relatively inexpensive trickle charger off Amazon for the Jeep, since I can sometimes go a few weeks w/o driving it. Good thing to have if you have a vehicle that may sit a while at a time.
Yeah, nope, good idea though, moot now.

I had a friend who had a Solara back when, he liked me to drive him around in it at times.  I thought it was junk, but he liked it.  He owned a repair shop and I bought an older Honda CRV from him.  I think any car can be a lemon.  I just signed some "Lemon Law" paperwork last night.  The guy said they had one a year they couldn't fix, usually electronic related.

In other news..........

I'm pointing the Impala north in a few minutes.
The Texans won't miss me.
Headed to Manhattan, KS for the night - about 7 hours away
Maybe I'll shoot SkiCat a text - see if I can buy him a beer

Skicat report:::::

The guy is doing well.
Had a weird health issue a while back but seems to be on the right track for good health.
Great breakfast at the Chef.
Sat next to a table of 6 kstate football coaches.   Skicat knew 5 of them.

Ski was interested in all of us and other posters.  He says hi.
Yes, I told him about the board meeting next fall.

3 Corolla's have lasted me 33 yrs so far and that was with rust taking the 1st one after 16 yrs. The 2nd was taken after 8 yrs because of an accident and I bought that used.Took the insurance money and bought a 3rd used also that I'm still driving today. And I was Chevrolet guy as were my dad/brothers but their lack of detail, design and staying on top of quality pushed me over. The Japanese Companies did what we used to so well as the BIG 3 was just looking for big and quick paydays

I think most new cars today are quite reliable and trouble free (I hope anyway).

They do have a LOT of computerized stuff on them now.
