It would help more if students got real degrees or certificates.

Too many kids go to college in this country, and many go just to go, or for all the wrong reasons.

CDawg has said 65% of US kid go to college, while that number is 35% in Utopia (Europe).
They were told they should go to college from the time they were 5 years old.
How is it on them?

Because we all listened to our parents out of High School or didn't take our own path

You are building a straw man
nobody here thinks 17 year olds should be signing contracts

again the subject which for some reason youre trying to change is forgiveness of all student debt which is in the trillions

Parents are stupid too, but from what I can see around my rather large circle of friends, associates and colleagues is that they are wising up to the farce.

Enrollment in technical schools and trade schools is rising rapidly. This is good.

Private colleges are free to charge whatever they want to in my opinion. However state supported colleges and universities should be looked at closely over their tuition and other expenses.

enough is enough

Events over the past 2+ months are going to change enrollment at many of the "elite" colleges. Donors have already reacted.

I have permanently banished higher ed from any donations.    I feel less connected each passing year.  The obstinance and hubris is other worldly.

I am not looking forward to my daughter's college selection process.

My mother believed strongly in education.

She insisted that I attend a 4 year university.

I wanted to go to a tech school for auto body and paint.

So I dropped out of the engineering college at UNL.

Probably best I didn't learn to paint cars.  Found out I was color blind

I agree.

But if a certain generation is so damned awful, one need only to look at the previous generation for why.

If you zoom in, you'll see some future Utah defensive linemen.
