I had one MRI on my shoulder a while back.  It was interesting as I did a lot of "NMR" back in the day, far far more rudimentary stuff but same concept.
Got my shoulder done too - cracked labrum.I buggered out of the skull scan.

I had torn labrum from 50 years ago, plus a lot of junk in the shoulder.  Had a biceps tenodesis operation that helped a lot.  I've been throwing pretty well of late anyway.  I'm going to go now and throw off the wall.

I think young folks today sometimes make two big mistakes when deciding on a career choice

1 Not researching what career choices actually pay and the public need for the career under consideration
Society will always need doctors lawyers engineers and accountants but not so much some degrees in economics or English literature

2 The desire to start out at the top of their chosen career and not wanting to gain experience and work their way up the ladder

They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

Both of those are very true.

We get kids who interview and imply that they want to take my job.

I'm thinking "You really want THAT?" while also thinking WTF have you ever done?

It's why electrical engineering was my major, and philosophy was my minor. One of the two doesn't pay.

I have skipped them, and they "say" you don't need one after 75 anyway.

I interviewed a LOT of candidates back in the day, BS level and higher.  It was depressing how many had good grades and didn't appear to know anything about anything.  I'd hold up a piece of glassware and ask them if they knew what it was.  Or ask how a GC works, or if they had ever used a rotovap.

I had one recommendation by a professor at Ohio State for a graduate student that said, simply "X has enjoyed good health at Ohio State.".  End.

1.) Quick fix is you don't pay a dime for college at the time.  Not loans, just a deferred payment, based on your salary.  Colleges would quit convincing kids to spend 7 years in college triple minoring in three different regional studies real quick.

2.) I think there is some truth to this.  However, there are a couple of barriers.  First, a lot of larger firms hire kids straight out of college just as cheap labor, with no desire to promote them.  A lot of them, from engineering firms, to accounting firms, to law firms, want those new hires to burn the candle, and then leave.  Then upper management is all laterals that bring their own book with them.  The other end is the back end not retiring.  I can't tell you how many partners at our firm are "retired".  They still manage their large clients, but don't actually ever bill any hours, but are also unwilling to hand the client off to anyone.  The junior partner on our largest client is 52.  The managing partner is in his 80s

Unrealistic expectations here, clearly.  But this probably is a smallish minority of whiney people out there.  But they are "influencers" I reckon.

I was nearly 26 when I started my first real job.
