Wife officially retired at the end of October she is 59, I have 129 days until I retire I am 63.  We already play golf together pretty regularly.  We have 6 cruises schedule for the next year with 2 of the cruises being in Europe where it will be combined with other European travel beyond the cruises.  I already live in a sunnier climate and read a lot.
Where in Europe? Travel to there has me a little spooked at this time.

The other major health related item is being able to walk.  We walk a lot, and being able to walk basically opens a lot of doors.  My wife has had three hip replacements, but she does pilates three times a week.  My major advice on retirement is to go somewhere where you will like to walk about a lot.
Agree with this. And what you do 20+ years before retirement might have a lot of impact on whether you can walk when you reach it.

We're headed to France in February.  I'm not overly concerned.

Busy travel schedule ahead for first part of 2024.

I don't think there's any issue with travel to Western Europe right now.

Western is fine. Anything East of this line is my limit.

I wouldn't feel particularly at-risk going to Prague right now.

Budapest, on the other hand, is a powder keg.  Orban is a stooge and a sociopath.

Western Europe.....hellz......I ain't leaving Texas.  Can't even trust the coonasses next door, no way am I giving the Europeans the chance to trap me in their socialist utopias.  Ron Swanson had a lot to say about Europe, and Ron Swanson was a smart man.

Athens, Crete. Santorini, Kusadasi, istanbul, Mykonos, Alexandria, Port Saad, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv (obvious Israel stops are in question) Paris and vicinity, London and Vicinity, Amsterdam, Brussels, LaRochelle, Bordeaux, Bilibao, LaCoruna, Oporot, Lisbon.  The Paris and london are the non-cruise part of the trip.  Haven't set the exact iternary for that part yet. going to be about 5 weeks total time.

Isn't scheduled until next fall, wife is a bit concerned. Personallly I think much will die down by then.

You're lucky that DFW finally has some really good BBQ places.

Also, I think there's still one or two Bonedaddy's locations up there in the area.  Make Slick proud and grab some while you're there.
