I amuse myself each morning by scanning the web sites of most US news outfits.  They often describe very different worlds out there.  The network news sites are the same, mostly, eager reports on the latest Taylor Swift news and  of course photos of some babe in a scanty bathing suit somewhere.

I find the "straightest" news sources are the business news channels/outlets, maybe because that's mostly the news of interest to me.

I get an email from the NYT each morning which is free, and at times interesting, often not really.  They mangle some things at times of course, often relating to gun crime.

A person who looks only at news he likes is going to live in a different world than someone similar who is on the other side.

Yup.  It, too, has some political leanings, but I believe it to be more objective than all of the other MSM outlets.

And unlike the other outlets, whatever political leanings it has, tend to be policy-based rather than infantile identity-politics-based.

I just scan web sites and open anything that looks to be of interest.

That's why I have it.

And the lean goes both ways with the WSJ.

Editorials and commentary lean right. Other sections lean left. I like the balance - which is rare these days.

I used to religiously read the Chicago Tribune. It had balance. Now, it's impossible to read for many, unless you really like what's happening to Chicago.

I scan the WSJ at my brokerage firm up the street at times.  For me, it's really TMI.  I prefer to sit here and scan on line whatever I want to read.

I generally find the business sites less often with a clear agenda than the so called "news" sites, any of them.

Just rolled into Vegas.

First time to take an Uber.
Always found cabs much easier in vegas.  Easy to get anywhere and quickly

Speaking of billionaires, this Blank fellow has spread his money around town, often with his name attached (which is OK with me).

This one is for families with patients being treated next door at the hospital for whatever.  He also largely funded the new Children's Hospital,.  I'm told his partner (Home Depot) does the same without the publlicity.

I just let the algorithm decide which articles will piss me off the most, then go out into the world.

New high-speed rail could link to Atlanta airport, White House says | Urbanize Atlanta

Looks to me like political spin, not something with any reality (or funding) to it.

I still lean to thinking HSR will be obsolete before it's finished anywhere, unless you count Brightline in FL.

My wife is very opposed to RVs of any ilk.  As you know, in France, it has different connotations.

Before I met her, I considered "pulling the plug" on living in one place and residing solely in some reasonably small but comfortable RV.  I'd drive about seeing sights and perhaps find a place I liked for a while and then move on.  It still sounds a bit appealing to me now, but not to her, at all.
