A bit of weirdness here ... a Lyft ride to the airport is $56.46 from here.  Checker Cab charges $38.

It would be $2 on MARTA, but my wife says we have too much luggage to walk to the station.

Some resident gave my wife a phone number to call some dude and he charged us $65 a while back, nice enough dude and all, but not worth the extra money, at all.

Does Lyft have some sort of surge pricing going on b/c it's busy right now? Is it normally lower than this for Lyft?

A few years back, I used Lyft exclusively for this, then post COVID, the rates about doubled.  They no longer are close to competitive with cabs, and the cabs are just as nice/clean/whatever.  The cab company has a fixed rate by area.  I'm not sure how Lyft/Uber are hanging around now, what once was a really neat phone feature now is pricey crap.  Maybe a shorter cab ride is pricier.

I'm fine walking to the MARTA station, but my wife is apparently delicate.

I don't know about here, but in Illinois, Lyft/Uber must charge rates comparable to cabbies when going to/from the airports. It's a union thing, of course.

A private driver from here to RSW is $60.00. Uber was $35.00 when we used it last. It's 45 minutes without traffic.

Speaking of MARTA, they are slowly rebuilding the various stations often incorporating retail and residential with them.  The main downtown station is due to a $206 million overhaul, which will be interesting.  I'd probably put the money elsewhere, but whatever.

I think the venture capital ran out. They actually have to try to turn a profit.
