It makes sense to do it.  I'd guess Tech doesn't sell out often.

Georgia Tech football on track for lowest attendance in over 30 years (sportsbusinessjournal.com)

That is for 2021.  It may be up this year as they did get bowl eligible.  They just aren't going to be competitive in the future I think.  

The announced attendance for Georgia Tech's game last Saturday against Boston College was 31,511, the "lowest for a Tech home game since a November 1989 game." Average attendance for the team's six home dates this season, including the game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against North Carolina, "is 34,956."

Dynamic pricing has been in heavy use in sports for some time now.  The slightly different practice of pricing single games of specific opponents in college is older than dynamic pricing models.

Airlines were really the first large scale industry to introduce it to retail about 45 years ago.

Many popular attractions now use dynamic pricing, ex museums, theaters, zoos, theme parks,  etc.

I figure airlines and hotels use an algorithm computing whether a flight/hotel is filling up as fast as the model predicts, and if not, the price drops, and vice versa.  We've experienced the obvious huge shifts in prices flying to France in summer versus winter.  I'd guess they have fewer flights in winter as well.  Hotels can't do that of course.

I just booked a Doubletree in Gainesville, FL for $111 (pretax) for January.  We like to break up the drive to North Port going down.

College football programs could make more if they priced the way Stubhub does, I'd guess.  Maybe they will offer that at some point.  Maybe TV is so dominant it's not worth it.

There are no stadium expansions going on now, are there?

I'd argue just about every stadium should be going in the other direction and right size in some effort to compete to keep the fan coming to the game. I'm not aware of any major expansion projects in flight.  There are a ton of old and not very accommodating big stadiums in the P5.  

Nebraska's pending project will be very very disruptive but it is much more of a rebuild of large sections than anything else.   There will be a reduction in seating capacity.

TV is catching up but at Texas >50% of the budget or >$100M per year of revenue still comes from football game ticket sales, parking, concessions, merchandise, etc.  

I suppose you could try and price stadium tickets that way but athletic departments need consistency of revenue streams, about as much as they need the money itself.  PRe-selling tickets, and requiring foundation donations for season ticket priority, provides consistent revenue.

In other news, I've been trying to varied success to reduce my consumption of alcohol.  I usually don't feel hung over, but Sunday morning I did feel a bit like my hair was on fire.  So, I've had zero since Saturday night.  I got into bourbon after some wine watching foosball, which is from de Debil.

I'm hoping to drop a few lbs before baseball starts up in six weeks.  My pitching lessons exceeded any expectation of productivity.;)

Restauranteur unveiled for historic, converted Midtown funeral home | Urbanize Atlanta

Kinda weird, my wife is not very up for this, the funeral home was designated "historical" so they built buildings all around it and now plan for it to be a restaurant, a rather large one by floor space.
