Israel.
I don't necessarily agree.

This conflict has put our country in a very awkward position. It's been very divisive here, as we've seen.

Pretty effective disruption, fueled by Iran (IMO) to weaken the USA from within itself.

Normally, I wouldn't be all gung-ho for any country based on a religion.  But when all your neighbors' goal is to erase you from the planet, yeah, you get a waiver.
I'm glad we blindly? support Israel, because NO ONE else will.

Thanks to religion, we have a never-ending conflict in the middle east.  Great idea!

But I digress.

Everyone suggesting Israel is going overboard has never experienced an ongoing nuisance.
Once that nuisance that you could destroy in 2 weeks actually hits you hard, an equal retaliation is no longer gonna cut it.
Hamas, you want to fire rockets and mosquito-bite Israel every few weeks or months, whatever, stop it.  Pew-pew.  Go away.

Oh.....Hamas, now you want to invade, kill, kidnap, and hide?
NOPE.
Israel should show what "full force" looks like, just in case Hamas doesn't realize the absurd amount of restraint they've benefitted from.  Squash the bug.  Kill it, so it can never harm you again.

Dead innocents?
Talk to Hamas.  The first words out of my mouth the moment I heard they attacked, killed, and kidnapped Israelies was "welp, a lot of innocent Palestinians are going to die."
Because it was guaranteed.  And Hamas guaranteed it with their actions.

Hamas Israel: Which countries support Israel? Which countries oppose Israel? (smh.com.au)

In an unusual move, the leaders of France, Germany, Italy and Britain joined the US in making a joint statement of “steadfast and united support to the state of Israel” which condemned Hamas’ “appalling acts of terrorism”.
“Our countries will support Israel in its efforts to defend itself and its people against such atrocities,” said Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Other Western nations, including Australia[/iurl], Canada and New Zealand have condemned Hamas and made statements of solidarity with Israel.

Ironically, this is about exactly what I said to my wife when this broke.

The first words out of my mouth the moment I heard they attacked, killed, and kidnapped Israelis was "welp, a lot of innocent Palestinians are going to die."

BTW, this is one point at which it's useful to make a reminder... Everyone, everywhere, is all the damn same.

I call it the "Anthony Bourdain model of the world". On his show, he traveled ALL over the place. Sometimes to glitz and glamour (i.e. Copenhagen). Sometimes to war-torn or otherwise shitholes (Haiti, Cambodia, Cuba, Detroit). He traveled to places that we consider our enemies (Iran) as well as those who are sorta(?) our friends in the shadow of our enemies (Kurdistan).

And you know what his show brought to us? The idea that everyone, everywhere, is the damn same. On the ground. The real people. They're just like us. We're just like them.

They want peace and safety for their families. They want enough freedom to offer a better life for their children. They come together as families or communities and share food, merriment, and grief.

It doesn't matter what side of a border you're on. It doesn't matter what religion your parents are (which is the one you "chose" to believe in, >>90% of the time). It doesn't matter what economic system your nation purports to follow. It doesn't matter what color your skin is. All the stuff we layer on top is bullshit that's fed to us by people who want to control us by dividing us.

Everyone, everywhere, is all the damn same.

Israel doesn't seem to need a lot of support militarily from anyone
