People focus too much on complaining about the Christ and not enough about the mass. Get your backside to Christmas Eve mass or GTFO.
On our honeymoon, we went to the night Mass on Christmas Eve at the Vatican with Papa Frankie.

We stood in line for security next to a family from North Dakota whose son was a seminarian doing a year in Rome at the American seminary. Us tall English speakers have a tendency to draw other English speakers nearby.

The mood inside St Peter's was a blend of respectful Mass with the background intensity of a winner-take-all South American football match. Maybe that came from being seated next to a large group of Brazilians. Add in the organ kicking you in the chest every time it fired up, and it was a very memorable experience.

I pretty much only enter a church when it's part of an event for someone I care about (i.e. baptism, wedding, funeral), but even I'd probably go to Christmas Mass at the Vatican. That sounds like a very cool experience.

yup, I usually went to church 50 weeks a year
leave the other 2 weeks to the folks that wanted a crowded pew
Yup.  We always called 'em "C and E" people.

We were in an outdoor market in Edinburg and I spotted some blokes selling BBQ.  I had to have some, it was the real thing, not bad, served on a bun with slaw.  I chatted with them a bit.  They were almost sold out, which is a good sign.

Found a little turn of phrase I wrote somewhere back in 2016 and tickled my own fancy reading it again:

Quote
feckless group of sniveling brats simultaneously looking for self-aggrandizement while avoiding responsibility

Who can guess who I was referring to?

my youngest daughter is hosting thanksgiving in Lincoln Thursday

I'm bringing the wine.  easy prep.

I have a few favorite reds, but I'd like a couple recommendations for whites and chardonnays that pair well with roasted bird and thanksgiving type meal.

oh, the inexpensive stuff, of course.
