Funny. I actually kept my birthday private, because I had the opinion that if you have to use Facebook to remember my birthday, my birthday isn't that important to you and I'd rather not you give me a pity mention online.

But... I'm a little weird.

This is true of close friends and I agree with you there.  I've lived a number of places in my life and have many friends I wouldn't call close friends, but still people I like to wish happy birthday to.  I may be one of those rare cases that I actually know all those people, remember them pretty well, and for the most part like them pretty well.  But it's completely unfeasible for me to ever remember their birthdays.

There is a lot of things I wish I had kept private on the internet, but I unwittingly sold my soul to Google and Facebook years and years ago.  It probably doesn't matter now.  If you have a smart phone, some combination of the MANGA collective (or FAANG some prefer to call it) has everything on you.  I sort of knew that already but recently to complete a techy-type degree I had to take an ethics class, and it was eye-opening the sheer level of their ability to collect data on us.

I don't need Facebook to remember birthdays. My wife does that. It's one of her superpowers that she never forgets a birthday :)

I make a post in January saying "Happy Birthday to everyone who has a birthday this year."

The one I have listed is wrong.  It is often a security question.

My i s c & a aggie wife doesn't remember birthdays.  She also rarely remembers our anniversary.  It's a blessing and a curse.

My wife remembers our first date, our engagement date, and our wedding date, plus a zillion birthdays.

My standing "wish" for presents is not to be asked what I want for my birthday/Christmas.  I never get that.

Its funny as I haven't really even thought about this topic. I'm definitely not a chain restaurant type of guy and I would probably say I leaned towards fine dining but always liked steakhouses and Italian.

That being said, my life journey changed a ton last year and I haven't eaten out since and my food intake is crazy different. I basically make everything from scratch at home including bread and pasta and buy local vegetables, fruit, meats, eggs, milk, etc.  So I guess fine dining is probably not the concern, but maybe scratch restaurants which i certainly don't expect you to have a list like that lol.

Interesting that you like the plantains.. that was definitely a common food for me living overseas but I haven't had one in nearly 20 years.
Heh understood. We don't eat out a ton, though that's mostly because we have annoying picky kids and I hate spending money to watch them not eat. Well there are no shortage of steakhouses or Italian restaurants. The Top is pretty cool in a throwback way, though I'm not sure they will be able to tell you how they make their food. For Italian my favorite is La Tavola, though I've heard great things about Speck. I ate at Fyr the other day, a place that is cool because they have actual big fires going on in the kitchen, plus you can order an entire tomahawk ribeye. CD mentioned The Refectory, which is indeed pretty fancy. They also have tasting menus, which is always cool.

Yup.  Earlier, I'd think of a thing I might want, maybe a tool of some sortI saw advertised, and then forget about it.  Now, I probably order it on line, done.

Only two Georgia Bulldogs -- legends Charlie Trippi and Herschel Walker -- have ever won the prestigious Maxwell Award, given each year to the overall best college football player in the nation. This year, we actually have two semi-finalists in the group of 17 -- Brock Bowers and Carson Beck.

I'm looking at getting either an air fryer or a vaccum cleaner for the wife, she has brooms already.

Get her a mop and pail, and some knee pads, and say "Woman, get to work."
