In Other News-- my daughter's high school marching band just won State for 5A Classification.  (5A is the second-largest classification in Texas, behind 6A at the top).

Cedar Park High School has now won the last five Texas 5A state championships in a row.

Covid again.....yay.

Went to a wake back in Louisiana monday night for a lady that passed whose family I'm close to.  After I got home that night I started getting a little sick and then by last night it was full blown.  Meaning I was likely contagious at the funeral home, hugging and talking to all those people, half of whom were elderly.  Brilliant.

Second time to get it.....still would much rather catch this than the flu.

I just had lunch with a friend who got Covid after attending his sister's funeral in Detroit.  He said nobody else in the group got it, yet.  Probably the plane he thinks.

When Starbucks went public I thought it was a scam/fad.  Later I noticed a line of cars outside the Starbucks I drove by each morning, waiting on coffee.

I could understand some around college campuses (and I'm near one, about 2 miles).  Of course, I don't really understand steak houses much either.  Or salad places.

"Hey, let's dine out at that new salad place."
I would argue that some of what's in them are highly addictive. When you go through weird brain trauma like I did, you start researching every part of food and drink that goes into your body. If you really want to raise an eyebrow, look into what Chick-fil-A puts on their food and it will also help you understand that "fad" as well.

Eventually, food and drink places will face similar consequences to what the cigarette industries faced, but we're probably decades away from people facing that reality

Chick-Fil-A to me is quite amazing service and decent sammiches.

I don't know what chemicals they use other than the usual.

I see brominated veggie oil may be on the way out.

Their sandwiches are good.  But I think below Popeye's, and on par with Wendy's.  But their level of service is beyond what any other fast food offers.  As a father of three, if there is even 1 car in front of you at any other fast food, that could be anywhere between a 2 minute or 20 minute wait.  You see a Chick-Fil-A line, you know what you are getting.  It might be long, and we keep going, but if it's short, you know its a quick wait.  They keep it moving, and if there is an issue, they handle it, and keep it moving.  If Wendys or Popeyes has an issue, the whole operation shuts down

I'll go if we're on a trip and they are off the freeway.  I'll very rarely go around here, too many good options for us.  There is one up the street that oddly is not open for dinner.  It used to be.

Our stomachs are pretty amazing chemical plants.

Our oldest plays in house football, basketball, soccer and baseball; travel basketball, soccer and baseball; and multi-state club level baseball.

Our next is incredibly engaged in theater, but also plays local baseball and basketball.

Our youngest is 3 1/2 so it's coming.

Would I choose to eat at a Chick-Fil-A?  Nope.  When we are driving from a soccer game to a baseball game 2 hours apart, do I know what a line means?  Absolutely

What do they put in their food?
The big one is monosodium glutamate. Food industry gets away with calling it a "flavor enhancer" but in reality it's an excitotoxin that overstimulates the neuron receptors and creates addictions and does harms the brain over time. Chicken and breading both have it.

Chicken also has sodium aluminum phosphate, linked to brain issues, dimethylpolysiloxane which is a silicone ploymer.. yeah lets put that in our body. Emulsifier like monoglycerides which are starting to be tied to brain issues like cavernous malformations, Soy lecithin.. potassium iodate.. banned in europe.

Potassium sorbate.. polysorbate 80.. again, any type of emulsifier is starting to be tied to brain issues.

Lastly - when any company uses the term "natural flavor" it's a giant red flag. It's a proprietary "flavor" produced by that company and a way to bypass the FDA.

Obviously after I suffered multiple brain tumors and bilateral craniotomy, i went down an extensive rabbit hole of causes and issues that could have lead to it and the food industries and what they do opened my eyes, yet scared me at the same time. I used to make fun of friends of mine that were farmer's market shoppers and what I thought were weirdos about their shopping and now i get my vegetables, meats, milk and everything possible from local farms.  Just a lot of bad things that happen in our food chains.

I thought the concerns over MSG were completely unfounded...
