Like most here, I get U Tube on my TV.  And when I'm bored I pull up some videos talking about my team, and boy there are a lot of them, I watch parts of some of them, usually 2-3 guys yammering on about whatever, rarely insightful at all.  There must be a considerable market for this sort of thing, guys in their basements apparently with fancy looking mikes yammering.

I know several folks here could do this, mostly better than the public ones.  It would be a bit of work.

I prefer to read stuff than listen, it's easier to "edit", skip around, take a glance and see if I want to read the whole thing.  So thanks for all the good "analysis" around here, stuff like "remaining undefeated teams" etc.

I was musing Sat. morning how years ago I watched Game Day pretty often, then I found I'd have it on but barely listening, maybe if they talked about my team I would, then only if they were on my campus, then I just skipped it entirely.  So much of this is entertainment of course, I liken it to our "news" outlets.  You have to get clicks.  $$$$

The way of the world.

I think that’s the point of game day. It’s something nice to have on at your tailgate. Or at the gym when you’re working out in the morning.

I know some people watch it religiously, which I don’t understand. The idea of sitting through that unless I was an aggregator seems very pointless.

Eh, the main thing for me is that it simply isn't going to happen, it's a nonissue, akin to going back to preplayoff bowl games.

Not going to happen.
If it did, we would be up in arms in like three years.

Another "funny thing" is rankings of course.  I'm not really against them, not that it matters, but they don't matter.  The initial CFP ranking is meaningless beyond giving a hint as to what they appear to value.

And notice how computer rankings, once the rage, are almost ignored completely now.  ESPN has this FPI thing which is often bizarre (and ignored).  The show tomorrow will get some decent "rankings" (eyeballs) and discussion about a thing that doesn't matter really.  I understand that whoever is Numero Uno gets a probable shot with a loss if it's not critical.  UGA could lose again in the SEC CG perhaps and get a 3/4 seed (again).

Anyway, it's all a bit amusing at times, including the core fact that "we" care about how our team does.

same as our very own "Big Ten Power Rankings" here

they change from week to week depending on the latest wins and losses

they certainly don't matter, but they are somewhat interesting and/or entertaining

Yes, but these are for internal discussion and consumption, nobody gets upset about them.

Those ranking remain “content.” They matter in as far as someone might have feelings about them. And you have shows and writers who cater to folks with feelings, so it’s sort of a thing.

FPI is interesting. I wonder if they got more translatable metrics, or if the proliferation of taking about gambling made FPI less of a point.

Yeah... I realize I'm an outlier these days because I'd rather read something than watch a video about it. And certainly don't like "listening" to something without video.

About the only time I seek out videos on something is when it's a how-to type of video. I.e. how to fix something, build something, cook something, etc. That's the area where visuals help. For nearly everything else, I'd rather read.

I put it on the TV on Saturday morning. Because there's nothing else on worth watching. Usually I'm sitting on my computer or reading a book. It's background noise.

At least until the last few minutes, b/c my wife is always excited to see the Corso headgear.

FOX's Big Noon Kickoff is a better show these days, imo.

yup, I don't need background noise

and unfortunately, Nebraska gets NO airtime since they haven't had a winning record in a decade or so

I don't think people could handle the computers once they realized that some of them held SOS in such high value that your "rating" would go down when you played a weak opponent, no matter how badly you beat them.
I think that was mostly due to altered computer rankings, bastardizing the margin of victory component.  I really just wished they left the computers alone instead of compromising them here and there the whole reign of the BCS.
.
Anyway, the humans then did the same thing in 2014, with TCU destroying some shit team 55-3 and moving them down 3 spots - from IN the playoff to OUT of the playoff.  That was fucked up.
.
As far as Gameday, I think it's just "football talk" noise when you're in a football mood.
