That’s an interesting question. I wonder if there are certain services or what not that you have to offer.
I thought it was an amendment to the constitution, but I guess it's not an amendment but more of a civil rights law that you cannot discriminate based on color, sex, age, race or religion.  So for example, if you wanted to have a community that ONLY caters to people of a certain race that would definitely be illegal.

I guess it kinda falls under the same type of exemption that will let you have a .357 magnum hand-gun but not a bazooka.

We looked at a couple 55+ communities, they'll sell to anyone.

That's might be true in some cases too. But if I'm 30 I wouldn't want to be in a 55+ community. No appeal.

It's kinda like the cruise line we use exclusively. They tell you flat out that if you are under 40, it's probably not for you. And it's not.

Sure, these are tailored swiftly for older folks, but there is no discrimintion based on age.  A retired 54 year old might like the place.

I recall looking at one in Nocatee south of Jacksonville.  They had a huge and expensive club house and a smallish 2 BDR house on tiny lot.  My wife didn't like it at all, which is kinda funny considering we live in a condo now.  (Our condo is larger than their house.)

I can see the appeal, but I prefer this place by a lot personallly.  Most folks around us are 30-somethings and I think it helps not to be around solely older folks.

It's obviously a successful concept.

I guess the question would be what area of flexibility would that fall into.

Like, you can say 30 year olds can’t go to kindergarten. You can charge 17 year olds more for car insurance.

But I suppose it’s also possible a lot are technically available to under 55 if they throw a fit. But if you have the money to do such a thing, you probably just won’t bother. And if you did, you would be like a 45 year old he goes back to high school. An oddity and a rarity.

Interestingly, that hasn’t really been true for a long time. When I was 22, I rented a car in Madison to go to a job interview in Minnesota. I had an extra fee of $20 per day.

Yeah, you're right. Thinking about that, I did rent a car at 21 in Florida for my honeymoon. It did cost around double though.

Stupid idea to get married at 21. Such an idiot.

I don't think that will happen to this guy.

I was just shy of 26 and I was an idiot also.  I did better on round 2, by  a lot.  You did too I suspect.

They should have a "learner's permit" for marriage.

And a written exam.

And yeah, round 2 is wonderful. Coming up on 30 years soon.
