I mostly hear crime, homelessness and taxes.

You're in a safe area, isolated from 2 of those (I assume??).
No homeless in this area. Not much crime, but there are reports of South American organized crime rings robbing homes. Don't think they come around to my neighborhood though... Not ritzy enough.

Hey computer nerds, I'm looking to replace my 3 year-old pedestrian computer that I only use for surfing the internets and saving thousands of documents on.  Just looking to spend like $300-500.
What RAM and storage should I expect?
What processor won't be obsolete 5 min after buying?
.
Right now, I have an Intel Core i5-62000 @ 2.3GHz
8 GB RAM
240 GB storage
.
All I literally use it for is excel docs and www.internet.com........and of course youtube videos and what-not.
What should I avoid?
Is this $300 HP thing I found on Amazon with much of the storage by way of micro SD a bad buy?

HELP

If literally all you do is web surfing and aren't averse to storing documents in the cloud, you could consider a Chromebook.  You can probably get a new one for a few hundred dollars, should be cheaper than any decent Dell, HP, etc.  If you need to run any software other than MS Office, it's not the way to go.  But could be something to consider, based on your needs.  If you like to store docs locally, it's also probably not the way to go.

I'd love to live in a 55+ community.  Can be very nice, cheap, and quiet.
Ageism keeps me out.
My 55+ community is quiet, but not cheap. And then you live with a bunch of 75-80yo busybodies.  It is as bad as high School.

If you're watching on TV, look for me in the main grandstands.  I'll be the dude wearing Ferrari gear and a Longhorn baseball cap.
Thought you would have made the pit crew by now

I absolutely hate that song. Gave me a headache as a kid.

Man, so much '70's music just sucked.

Exceptions to hard rock and hard rock only.

Sometimes I wonder if that's really legal.  Like if somebody challenged the law would it hold up?

That’s an interesting question. I wonder if there are certain services or what not that you have to offer.

I'm sure it's been challenged. Dell-Webb has been doing them for at least 30 years, since I began doing work for them.

The idea behind it was common interests among older people, with amenities to match, and reduced property taxes for those who have no kids in schools.

Well we were talking about the increased cost of car batteries... Unfortunately I just had to pay it.

Got into the Flex with the kids to take them to school this morning--wouldn't start. Thankfully we hopped in the Jeep and got them there and on time, perhaps a little colder than planned, but overall fine.

Battery was >5 years old and out of warranty, tested as poor health, and so $208 later I've got a brand new one.

Yay.

Yup.  They're significantly more expensive lately.

From a legal sense, that feels dubious. Or at least weirdly niche. Will be interesting to see how it goes, and will no doubt bleed meta’s resources as good bit.
