Meanwhile- my better half is stuck in Tel Aviv.  Going into bomb shelters multiple times a day.  What a world.
Definitely been in my thoughts. I was hoping for the best, but at least she is safe. Best wishes.

High school students’ scores on the ACT college admissions test have dropped to their lowest in more than three decades, showing a lack of student preparedness for college-level coursework, according to the nonprofit organization that administers the test.

Scores have been falling for six consecutive years, but the trend accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Students in the class of 2023 whose scores were reported Wednesday were in their first year of high school when the virus reached the U.S.

“The hard truth is that we are not doing enough to ensure that graduates are truly ready for postsecondary success in college and career,” said Janet Godwin, chief executive officer for the nonprofit ACT.

The average ACT composite score for U.S. students was 19.5 out of 36. Last year, the average score was 19.8.

Sadly, there are so many people out there who will wonder why. And they probably don't know where Texas is either.

Let's keep it that way.  If they can't find it on a map, perhaps they won't move here.

Overall I'm not surprised though.  Anyone paying attention knew the remote school model was dramatically inferior to in-school model.  There's just no way it could be comparable.

I just read about a non-profit out of Miami that has become involved in evacuating Americans from Israel and Gaza. They prefer to use planes but can also do boats. Hopefully that will help, @Honestbuckeye .

Veteran-Led International Rescues - Project DYNAMO

The US Navy is enroute with their strike force. Maybe they can take a few thousand out too.

Without brandishing a weapon?

Thank you!!!!!!

Right now all of the major airlines have stopped going into Tel Aviv.

after much online time- I have found and booked her on a flight Monday. Bucharest to Rome.  Next day Rome to Miami.

Monday is a long way off- each passing day the risk of the airport closing increase.

If it does - I am contacting that organization.

Thank you again!

I'd call them now and get her on the wait list - regardless. Sounds like they are overwhelmed with requests, and not just from Israel. Ukraine, Afghanistan (yes, even still, after the cluster).

some fellas from my old walk of life have put together teams to extract folks... i don't know if that's a good thing, or simply profiteering.

The outfit I posted about is non-profit, but of course the guys doing the extracting get paid. How much, I don't know.

But they don't charge. They accept donations only.
