By definition, anything relating to government is political.
It shouldn't be.

Government makes policy, which should not be political either.

Ticking time bomb. We'll never go there.
Missing out, my friend.

I remember fondly being there in HS. We had a weekend with the family of a friend of a friend. The trip had been more cavalier than most, considering we were only a few years into the Second Intifada, but we still weren't going to public gatherings, obviously.

The host family was going to a big street fair in Jerusalem. Valuable lesson in living.

No. Not directly.  Nobody thinks that.  This attack was well planned for some time.

That’s not the point.

before we agreed to give them the 6 billion for the five hostages, we declared that it can’t be used to find terrorism.  But once the transfer took place, the ayatollah came right out in public and said “I use the money, however, I want to”
I think this is a bit of misdirecting attention.

The $6 billion is the political point it is, but the link is tenuous. Iran may fund Hamas, but the coordination and hierarchy isn't exactly there.

The blood feud goes back decades. Our timing with their ally is at best a footnote. (Ironically, the only way that peace tends to settle is when we bribe someone to settle the F down, but that's another matter)

No.  You are precisely misdirecting the conversation that was going on.

I’ll say this again so maybe you’ll understand at this time  Take your conversation about the $6 billion to a new thread or start a new conversation. That’s not what I’m talking about nor was I ever talking about that.

Fro and others were correctly discussing how we help arm and fund Israel- who is likely about to drill Hamas.

I simply pointed out that Hamas has been funded by Iran for years, and that is not in dispute by anyone of any authoritative credibility.

Thats the conversation.

Or we just stay out of it.

Or commit to it - for real.

The peace with the Saudis could have led to so much more.

It sounds like you're saying weren’t trying to use that as a reference to our current politics or leadership, and I guess I misread it. Sorry bout that.

I assure you, I’m not trying to tie anything we did with Iran to this at all.

The Biden administration has said that Iran has pledged to only use the funds for humanitarian purposes, but Iranian leaders have said they would decide what was best for their people. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday said those funds remain unspent in a frozen account in the weeks after the prisoner exchange was conducted.

“President Joe Biden’s kowtowing for the last two and a half years to the mullahs in Iran, lifting sanctions, begging them to get back in the Iran nuclear deal, and then paying $6 billion in a ransom for hostages, I think, set the conditions for this unprecedented terrorist attack by Hamas against Israel,” Pence said.

But the Biden administration has maintained unwavering support for Israel in the wake of an attack by Hamas on Saturday that took Israel by surprise. The prisoner exchange freed Americans who had been jailed in Iran under harsh conditions for years.
Still, Pence laid heavy criticism on the White House.

“There’s no question in my mind that Iran is behind, has subsidized, has approved and in the last day has even applauded this extraordinary terrorist attack by Hamas against Israel,” he said.

U.S. officials said Sunday they could not yet determine if Iran was behind the attack.

Pence also criticized the foreign policy positions of some of his fellow GOP presidential candidates, including former President Trump, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

“But I also believe this is what happens when we have leading voices like Donald Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis signaling retreat from America’s role as leader of the free world. Look, what happened in Ukraine was an unprovoked invasion by Russia. What happened this weekend was an unprovoked invasion by Hamas into Israel,” Pence continued in the interview.
“And I really believe now more than ever, both the debate within the Republican Party and the debate within America is whether or not we’re going to once again stand without apology as the leader of the free world, as the arsenal of democracy,” he continued.

I learned something new today.  We tried something new in our garden this year:  sweet potatoes.
We planted 6 sweet potato plants in our raised garden, expecting 6 sweet potatoes.

Turns out, one sweet potato plant, when located in nice watered, loose soil can produce multiple tubers per plant.  Apparently, even 10 per plant.

Weve got 60 usable potatoes.  Roughly 40 pounds.

I'm going to start looking at recipes because we are going to be eating sweet potatoes for the next three months.....

I blame the British for this giant shitshow with Israel vs. Palestine that has been going on for nearly 80 years.

I say if they can’t figure this shit out like civilized people we just turn the entire former British territory of Mandatory Palestine into a fcking parking lot and make it uninhabitable for anyone.

I am so over it.
