Nah, here in CA we have the same phenomenon. Months without rain, followed by a few hours of extreme slippery conditions when it finally does.

Definitely different than the Midwest where it rains frequently enough that you don't get that buildup.
Yup, I blame the California transplants for plenty, but not this.  At least in Southern California, they're used to the same conditions we are.

This one goes squarely on the yankees.

Regarding Disney, they have enjoyed great status in terms of the land they sit on, courtesy of the State of Florida. I'm sure you are aware of this. They can't just say whatever they want.

They (and all corporations) should have stayed in their lane and out of the classrooms.

We're talking about K-3 here, for God's sake. Let the kids be kids. They can worry about LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ stuff later, when they are capable of understanding it. Maybe 7-8 grade.

That said, it is my view that the war on Disney was unnecessary and petty. Sometimes you just gotta let shit go.

As for raising the retirement age for those under 40, I can see an argument either way. People are living WAY longer than they used to.

And I don't know about you, but my age to retire with enhanced benefits is 70. Regular benefit is 67.

Somehow that got raised for my generation (in 1983), and that's OK?

How about we be reasonable here. If they can raise the age for me (and probably you??), they can raise it for the next group. Yes??

For starters we can't tell entire generations that they will be working a few years closer to their death beds because the previous generation (who will be enjoying earlier retirement) couldn't figure it out.

If it were up to me, marijuana would be federally legalized and taxed.  That's billions in revenue that could be put towards SS, medical, and infrastructure.

I generally agree with what you say about the K-5 curriculum.  And that was my point when I replied to HB.  Those things are what's being taught.  The other things you're hearing about are isolated or over exaggerated instances being blown up by conservative media and used as talking points by Republicans to get elected.

Disney spoke on the matter because of the industry that they run.  In that line of work, there are far more people that fall into the LGBT and whatever else spectrum.  Those employees expected Disney to speak on their behalf, and yes that was the result of overdramatic reactions to the legislation .  I understand what's in the bill.

That said, none of the above should matter at all regarding Disney.  They have a right to say whatever they want, whenever they want, about any piece of legislation or politician.  They were afforded that right under A1 of the constitution, which was confirmed by SCOTUS.

DeSantis can't handle any criticism whatsoever, so he uses his power as governor to punish them for it.  That's government overreach.  Thats big government.  That's something conservatives claim to be against, yet they support it if it falls in line with their beliefs.

An opinion straight out of the far left playbook.  Full is false statements, opinions stated as facts, etc.    my goodness- you are hooked on MSNBC aren’t you.

I call bullshit on all of it.  First of all there is enough money already coming into the Federal Gov't we could fund medicare/SS/everything else if we just cut the waste and the bullshit.

Do we really need to spend $600 (or is it $800) billion on "defense"?  I'd opt for a much smaller, well equipped, well trained miliitary that would be not as spread out all over the world.  Because what good would it do to spend all this money on "defense" and not have enough money to fight a war?  Of course, if a real war broke out we'd just borrow or print more money.

My solution is simple.  Representatives and senators can only be re-elected if the federal budget is x% of GDP.  What that number is is debatable.  Need more money or go into debt?  Fine, but you can't be reelected.

US spends more than $1+ trillion per year on defense if everything is included (interest payments on borrowing for 7 wars, nuclear weapons programs- which is part of DoE budget and not DoD). More than the next 12 countries combined, 10 of which are officially "allies". The US has over 800 military bases around the world. Russia and China probably have less than 10. Combined. We have literally 300 bases encircling China alone- ready to bomb on that ass if need be. They have exactly zero encircling us. We've destroyed country after country across the globe over the last 70+ years. But they're the boogey man and we're suppose to be afraid of them. Lol.

Problem is the blatant and out and out corruption in the Pentagon. The Pentagon has yet to pass an audit and can't account for half of it's f**king assets. They spend $1,200 on a hammer and $500 on a toilet seat. $1.7 trillion on a fighter jet program that only flies 50% of the time. Lol. Pentagon's latest pet project is using Ukraine as cannon fodder to launder hundreds of billions of dollars in weapons contracts to it's largest defense contracting benefactors.

Close the bases. Defund Ukraine. Cut the military budget from $1+ trillion to $100 billion. Don't stop there. Start taking a hatchet to every bloated unnecessary gov't bureaucracy. Dismantle the IRS. CIA. FBI. Homeland Security. Blow it all up, scale it all back, fire literally everyone, restart and rebuild them with more tightly constrained controls, get rid of the bloat, the waste, the rot, and the dogshit waste of space piece of shit human beings who work in most of these bloated corpse useless corrupt gov't agencies.

at least it sends a message
It sure does. It says that it is a joke of a gesture that will absolutely nothing to prevent illegal crossings. It also says that this admin cares more about illegal immigrants than they care about American citizens. The guy is a clown.

This is something I'm absolutely fine with.  I'm about 99% certain this was something the coaches asked for.  You know they've got to be absolutely sick and tired of wasting their precious recruiting time doing these god-awful photo shoots for every slapdick big-timer wannabe that blows through campus.  How would the NCAA even know about them and bother with them, if the coaches hadn't tipped them off?

I side with the coaches and NCAA on this one.  Stop wasting time, get on with more important stuff like taking the recruits by the sorority houses and getting them laid.

I hear you, but is that something really that important that the NCAA has to regulate it? The answer to that is an obvious no.

Photoshoots! OMGGGG NOOOOOOOO!

speaking of more NCAA shit-baggery....they finally reverse their decision and allow UNC WR transfer Tez Walker to play. Only after half the season is already over...

I feel fancy, and uncomfortable, just put on a tux for the first time in years, opening night at the Symphony with a donor dinner beforehand.  Have to look the part, which I'm not.

Disney has been given insane special privileges to act as it's own local government. No corporation should have that power, period.

Have to laugh out-loud that it's the disgusting chubby they/thems, LBGTQRETARDS+, shitlibs/libtards, college deadbeat Marxist "capitalism must die", and vote blue no matter who crowd who are all of a sudden in love with out of control corporate power.

Don't care why DeSantis is going after Disney. He should be. And quite frankly he did not hit at them nearly hard enough. Disney has been getting away with murder in the state of Florida for nearly the last 60 years.
