The difference is the D's are mostly in lockstep with their leaders.

Nope. Too polarizing. My way-too-early prediction is Byron Donalds.

It’s interesting how that changes. Rs used to be great at keeping the group together, while ads bickered.

It seems like some of the new blood is a little immature and attracted to chaos.

I don’t know about Donalds, but I agree Matt would be a tough sell. Maybe senate.

Scott is running again this year (he's 70 and needs to sit down). Rubio just got re-elected last cycle.

That and I don't think Gaetz is Senate-worthy.

Didn’t realize no opening was coming. Interesting. I was thinking he’d be a winnable candidate more than worthy.

I don't think he could win here. I'll actually state that he just can't.

Florida is a conservative red state but it's not ultra-right like some (many??) think. Thus, I don't think there is appetite for a far-right guy in high office - albeit Senate or Governor.

Consider me your boots on the ground Gulf Coast eyeballs and ears. @Honestbuckeye on the Atlantic.

Ending up with hard right burn-it-all-down MAGAs as the Republican candidate in a general election is a big reason why the House is in the state it's in.

You can also credit the Supreme Court with an assist too.

That’s funny.  The only “ burn it all down” people ( the ones who not only think it- they do it) are not Rs.

Someone better let DeSantis know this.

?

He's definitely not moderate but he's also not ultra-right.

And he has lost some support here, including some of mine, since the landslide win.

I'm sure you've noticed.

You know how it is 847.  If you think weird things like crime should be illegal, and parents should have a voice in the materials that are being taught to their child- you’re a bogeyman right winger. Lol

So long as it's mostly peaceful.

This is what bothers me most.

I've been reading a lot about Ronald Reagan lately. Was he a right-winger? Some today would say yes.

He predicted most of this shit that's going on today (A slow move toward socialism with medicine, education, energy, etc.).

The US has been moving towards a larger more powerful central government for most of our history, much faster during some periods of course.  About half of all health care spending in the US is paid for by government.  And the projected spending for 2023 is 24.2% of GDP, some $6,3 trillion, of which only 4.2 is covered by receipts.
