unfortunately, as they've ruined everything, the Octoberfest beers are gone by October when the weather turns.
It's all about marketing.  They can't sell an Oktoberfest after the month of October, nobody will buy them.  So they bring them out earlier and earlier, to maximize the selling season for this popular beer style.

And it's regional too of course.  The predicted high temp in Portland, Maine today, is 69 degrees.  I could definitely drink some Oktoberfest in that weather.

Haven't noticed much change here. Typically buy at Costco. We were sitting around 4.55 and I think the last time I was there (Friday) it was 4.75, but we certainly haven't seen a 0.50 rise.
Cheapest I saw in the LA area was in El Segundo. $5.39 for 87. Santa Monica was $5.59.

I just filled up at $3.25 which is the highest I've seen for a while.

LA is usually higher than down here in OC. BTW my Costco price did jump to 4.85.

Oddly enough the Costco near my wife's office (only ~10 mi away as the crow flies) is usually .30 cheaper than the Costco I typically go to. Don't really understand that.

Yeah, I can't speak to that.  There's always plenty for sale in Austin in October.

You do realize that beer is pretty damn shelf-stable, right? IPAs and other hop-forward beers really benefit from being consumed fresh, but most other beer is not necessary to consume immediately.

You could buy the Oktoberfestbier now...

...and consume the Oktoberfestbier when the weather is more to your liking.

IPAs do not benefit from being consumed fresh, their entire purpose was to sit in the hold of a ship for 6 months and mellow.  That's the whole reason they were over-hopped.

Only a bunch of dumb Americans could later decide "Hey, you know that horrible flavor that IPAs have when they're fresh?  Yeah, we should make a lot more just like that!"

I'm aware that the beer will last just fine in my basement
I'm just not always aware that I need to stock up in August

Luckily I don't, shelves will be plenty stocked with Festbiers throughout the month of October, here in the ATX.

I had a couple Oktoberfests today while grilling. Pretty breezy, beautiful day in Columbus. By October everyone will start filling up with Christmas Ales.
