This "reformer Pilates" doesn't have anything I'd call flim flam, they are private lessons, the teacher lady asks me questions and instructs me to do various and sundry, mostly stretching in odd ways (to me).  I'd done two of them previously, my wife says I have to stay at it to see a benefit.  I guess.
By "flimflam" or "dressing up" I don't mean that pilates is somehow deceptive or to dismiss it. It's more that they might dress it up with more "spirituality" or "building a mind/body connection" or other sorts of things to make it seem like it is more than simply working out. When it's just working out.

It's kinda like seeing "Jack's Bakery" and across the street is "Jacques' Boulangerie" and making you think you should go the latter because it seems "fancy". "Pilates" is a exotic-sounding word with and often the workouts will have extra stuff that's basically just dressing up a core workout to make it sound more fancy.

It seems like it's good exercise and will do good things to build core strength. So I agree with your wife. Stay at it, and you'll see a benefit.

I think planting trees can help

I think like a 5 year old at times - some of my better thoughts
Planting trees doesn't offer significant help unless you take those trees, after they grow, chop them down, and somehow "sequester" them in a way such that they cannot decompose. Because as soon as they die and start to decompose, they release that CO2 right back into the air.

So more trees and larger forests mean that you have more temporary CO2 storage, which is a good thing, but it's a band-aid.

It's like saying you've got a 5-gallon bucket with a 100 mL/hour spout allowing the water to flow out, but you're filling it with 150 mL/hour of water. Eventually it's going to overflow. Replacing it with a 10-gallon bucket doesn't change the fact that it's going to overflow, it just shifts it out into the future a little bit.

There was none of this, maybe because my wife warned here.  She did talk about the need for different muscle groups to strengthen at similar rates, which I think it accurate.  Any flim flam of ths above and it would be the last time for sure.  It wasn't especially hard, but I was sweating a bit at times.

if only...
the cost benefit analysis on nuke plants compared to other options might begin to sway some thinking

the folks that really want to help the planet and mankind (you know, the good democrats, the left) should be  pushing nukes

perhaps, the left just isn't that good, well meaning, helpful

"We" simply aren't going to go nuclear, not fast enough, not broadly enough, and not basically at all.  China and India and a few others may build a few, but they are building coal plants faster.  Nuclear is not a real option.  Even France briefly talked about shutting their down.  Germany did.

Two new power reactors in GA are coming on line and that's it, maybe some SMRs might happen in a decade or more.

I was in San Diego looking at two fleet carriers docked across from downtown pondering how many folks new four nuclear reactors were a mile away.

well perhaps when things get bleak, in say 40-50 years and the climate is really causing problems and the other GREEN options have proven futile, maybe then

There are dozens of reactors that are unfinished across the country.  I don't know how many of those could just be continued, but if they were and the benefits were realized, it would likely get the general population to buy in.

the general population would buy in if the politicians and their money grubbing donors would actually give a damn to do the right thing and let the masses know that nukes are the only solution

by politicians, I mean both parties

let the really worried alarmists that are super gluing their hands to airport runways that nukes are the only feasible option

There were like a hundred back in the mid-80s, but I assume some of those have simply been scrapped.  Perhaps it's most, but I think bringing one online that was already begun (site selected, cleared, leveled, permits, etc) would make more sense than something brand new.
But yes, there are dozens...or were dozens.

Here's a map of 40 of them.  There's 17 that are 26%+ constructed, whatever that means.  I assume some actual construction has been done with those, and there's 23 0-25%, of which I'd say some have actual construction done (but who knows?).
The point is that there are sites out there to continue on from if we wanted to.  Many.
