I don't see how that would help him personally, versus getting out of Dodge.  I'm not sure where he would bail, some rumor is the President of Belarus has left town.

I also don't see how this Wagner group has the power to "march on Moscow", if they are attempting  it.  There could be some significant civil war inside Russia now.

I think it's just getting started, but it's hard to tell. No reliable news media in that country.

I agree with you, I was thinking this specific event was over, the "march on Moscow" etc.  I read that it's a sign they could move that far without any real resistance.

As for the possibility a Putin replacement could be worse, I doubt it, because they would not be nearly as powerful initially.  They would need to spend time and effort solidifying their position.  Maybe in the longer run they could be worse, I'm not sure how.

If that Wagner guy became leader, it would be worse. The World dodged a bullet on that one.

I think (?) it would be unusual to replace Putin with another who was as autocratic and effective at being that.  They do have "elections" of a sort there.  Putin does an effective job at presenting himself as a strong leader that Russians tend to admire and respect.

He presented himself as strong until yesterday.
