Sort of the opposite actually.
Opposite indeed. Hunter took the advice of his attorneys. Trump has not.

You know this how?  And which advice was that regarding?  The fake Russia deal? The fake obstruction?

And of course Hunter took the sweetheart deal that “ his attorneys “ arranged for him.  It’s a deal nobody not named Biden could ever get.

You can't deny there is some pretty damning stuff on that device. You also can't deny it was falsely labeled as Russian disinformation prior to 11/2020.
I can deny it. Republicans in the house formed a whole committee to turn up these supposed crimes, with nothing to show for it. The DOJ and the house can't find any crimes, but nevertheless...

This kind of media crap goes back decades too, by the way.

Remember when the Bush girls were slammed by the media for getting drunk and smoking pot in college?

What exactly is the theory behind Hunter getting a "sweetheart" deal? It would have been much easier to not charge him at all.

Optics. They had to charge him.

DOJ: See, we did it.

They did not have too charge him. Who was calling for charges for old tax violations and a weird gun possession charge? Literally no one.

Any defense attorney worth their salt is going to tell their clients to STFU. Instead, Trump has gone on national TV multiple times and admitted to the crimes for which he is charged in federal court.

Trump is definitely a Pos.  And an idiot. And a loudmouth.
But he has never admitted to a crime. That might be your interpretation- along with CNN and MSNBC.

I saw a lot of folks going on and on and on about the laptop, and the tax situation, and the gun thing.  I don't know what any normal person would get charged with in this, but not paying taxes on two years of income over a million sounds kind of bad to me, tax evasion, Al Capone, whatever.

I would think the tax situation would be pretty "open and shut", as well as the gun violation, I don't think it should take five years.

I could as easily say "they" didn't have to charge Hillary for her server, or Trump for his, um, handling of records as well.  The usual partisan crowd will always call for charging the other side for jaywalking.

Well when they raid his home with armed agents -ensuring that the TV cameras coincidentally are there - and then rifle through his wife’s underwear drawer- like they did to Trump-I will view it as equal treatment.

One might think, but probably be wrong. Tax charges are notoriously hard to prosecute. What if his record show he didn't owe any taxes? If he has a slightly defensible claim, it is an uphill battle. That's why Trump has never been prosecuted for tax evasion despite some creative ideas about what he owes. Further, the state has to prove that Hunter is a drug addict and lied about, which is also challenging. These are fairly low level charges and got a fairly low level result, and the only remarkable thing is that the charges happened at all.
