I'm awake and watching the Open
not rooting for Rory
an American needs to win

only played the front nine with the kids
Oldest daughter didn't play - shoulder blade injury

I bogied the first two, parred the last 7 - 38
amazing while trying to keep pace of play

Was a good day with the kids

Shot 80 today. 2 good chances on 17 and 18 to make par for the 79.  Just didn’t make the putt.

BBQ ribs, mashed taters, corn on the cob- all after several Bourbons. (basil Hayden)

Cheesecake w fresh strawberries coming soon while watching the Open.

Great Day.

How does a person pick a favorite golfer?  I've asked this about picking a favorite NASCAR driver, but didn't get a satisfying answer.

I picked Phil Mickelson back in the day cause of his first name.  He was also a Callaway guy.  I play Callaway drivers and fairway woods.  He plays fearless.  Doesn't lay up much.  And he played at ASU where my brother was working on his masters.

I root for Americans to win the US Open and the British Open.  Not rooting for Rory this afternoon.

I did play Cleveland Irons, but do play Cleveland wedges, so. brand

Not many players use Mizuno irons, but I do

Maybe the state they were born in or the college they played for.
I root for Zach Johnson cause he's from Iowa and played at Drake.

Maybe you were a Nike fan because of Air Jordan.  Root for the guy with the Nike hat and shirt.

Or just root for someone cause your buddy doesn't like them.

I assume you watch them and like something about how they operate.

Same way you might like a random CFB player, but not necessarily their team

I hate golf and know nothing about it. I imagine it’s the same way people pick their favorite athletes in any sport…they just like the person or their game….

John Daly is my favorite golfer just bc he’s crazy and wild as hell….stories of his degeneracy are legendary.

I am curious to know, is your family heritage of Ukrainian or Baltic origin? Because this just seems like an irrational sweeping generalization that has some sort of inherit anti-Russian bias built in. Putin can be a bad guy and his invasion illegal and a crime, but that doesn't mean that entire country is and always has been a "barbarian terrorist state".

The Russian federation has only existed for a little over 30 years, and if you want to compare it's record of war, death, and destruction over the last 30 years alone vs the United States' record, well buddy, I have got news for you, they are fkn waaaaaay behind the US. If Russia is a barbarian terrorist state as you say, then what is the US? Because quite frankly, the Russians ain't got jack shit on us when it comes to invading, bombing, occupying, and destroying countries. The US is BY FAR the worlds greatest terrorist. No one in the world overthrows govt's it doesn't like, bombs & blows people up in other countries, runs world wide rendition & torture rings, assassination programs, spreads harmful disinformation/misinformation campaigns better than the US govt. Literally no one. If Russia is a barbarian terrorist state, then the US has like a PHD in that sh&t and are the Michael Jordan of war, death, and destruction.

If you want to go back and drag up crimes of the Russian Empire in the 17th, 18th or 19th century, well seems a little silly to do so as pretty much every empire from those days were basically heinously evil.

I'm 8th generation Texan but my primary ancestry is Irish, Scots-Irish, English, and a little bit of French.

You really need to re-think where you're getting your "news" because all you're currently capable of doing is reciting Kremlin propaganda over and over and over again.  I can't tell if this is a bit, or if you're really this gullible.  I hope it's a bit.

Style of play and where he's from, I get.
Would you compare club company with something like someone from Montana liking a random pro team?

I wonder if it's like what % of their great and amazing plays that you see live.
Like many see Desmond Howard as a sort of NFL bust and clown on GameDay, but I saw his stretched-out diving TD vs ND and his punt return TD vs OSU w/ the pose, so he's a forever legend to me.
.
I bet if you saw a certain player's biggest shots live, you're more likely to be a fan going forward.  Idk, just a shot in the dark.

I don't follow golf all that much but I'll root for Longhorn golfers when I recognize they're playing.

And I'm not a big NASCAR guy but back in the day I'd pull for The Intimidator, because I liked his nickname.

Is Ford vs Chevy just a "what did your dad/family drive" thing?

many times yes

In my case no

My father was a car guy, Fords and Chevys, no mopars

he owned a 64 Ford Galaxie 500XL when I was growing up

I almost bought a 71 Mercury Cougar as my 1st car but the price was too high

ended up with a 70 Nova SS as the first car.  Been a chevy guy since.

My daughters both own Fords currently
