Odd that anyone would believe that.

it certainly doesn’t match facts- over and over again.
Setting aside the odd assertion that this post quoted, this leads to a question I have always wondered about.

In some states, concealed carry is something you need paperwork for, while open carry is the default. In other states it is reversed. Seems like a thing we should have standardized. A lot of folks here are firearms owners and have strong thoughts. What do we think?

Which should be default legal/illegal, or should both be fine if you have the proper paperwork to have the thing to begin with?

As long as you're trained to use it and use it responsibly, both should be legal.  I'd label concealed carry as probably smarter.

I'd say it doesn't matter much it's in the open or concealed

if yer packin yer packin

law enforcement and other smart folks are gonna assume yer packin, just in case

the amount of paperwork required to own and carry is the question

You also have to have the legal right to possess a firearm obviously.

Yeah, I misworded it.  It's "open concealed carry", usually called constitutional carry (concealed).
But you can't do it legally if you can't legally own or handle a firearm.  That's the part folks miss usually.
A Federal background check is still required, but in most cases guns used in a crime are stolen.

I actually do not like Florida's new law on Constitutional Carry, even though it is more restrictive than the 27 other states which have the law. Most of those 27 are open carry or concealed. Florida is concealed only.

I would prefer people have to get a permit and go through training. A weapon is not a toy and must be treated with respect.

Yes, or obtained with straw purchases.  The "gun show loophole" is ridiculous if you've ever been to one.  It makes me laugh.

The kinds of sellers at gun shows are:

FFLs - who have to conduct the BG check, 70% of booths.

Antique firearms dealers

Sellers of gun accessories

The individual who pays for a booth to sell private guns with no BG check is almost a thing that never happens for obvious reasons.

Got the weekly email blast from my 4th-grader's teacher yesterday. Telling us "There will be no spelling words for the reminder of the year."

Uhh... Great.

Yeah, that's a problem, I think.

I'm not sure Joe Thug is gonna go this route. Too expensive probably.

It's an important point in terms of "constitutional carry laws" that MANY miss seeing.  They think it means criminals can now carry legally.
