Yeah, Newsome has tried in a couple spots (like a dink). But even if want wanted to tag him, it’s someone making it too complex by invoking some random law.

The open carry law would not be relevant to this shooting anyway.

Cadillac sells more vehicles in China than the U.S., and it's renewing the large CT6 luxury sedan and releasing a new compact crossover for that market.

I fault the media in part, politicians will say something about "open carry" that flat out is incorrect and the media usually let it pass.  Of course, this is broadly true as well.

We have these various 'fact check' sites that at times need fact checking themselves, and they can be a bit selective about who and what they FC.  The better ones do at least provide some references to back stuff up, usually.  More often they let statements slide by it seems to me.

Probably not, Caddy is going electric and to SUVs more than sedans.  The Impala benefits from being FWD in terms of trunk space.  And it does have a very spacious trunk.

The state of open vs concealed carry in our nation is … odd to say the least.

A states rights person would perhaps think that is a good thing.  We have Con. carry here in Georgia.  I dimly recall that in Texas, open carry is illegal, or used to be, but one could carry concealed (with license).  I agree the laws are all over the place.

laws don't stop criminals

it's against the law in every state to shoot others

Not in every case of course, if I'm being picky.  There are of course legal ways to shoot others.

I think some laws do at least hinder some criminals, if the fear of punishment is real and sufficient.
