Do you think Biden did that on purpose?

If he'd chosen his running mate on merit they might be a viable option to replace him and he might get replaced but instead he chose he running mate on diversity points and she isn't really a viable option to replace him.  That seems like insurance for him, no?
No, becuase that's really just a symptom of not having a great bench. It wasn't like the set of options was heavy on great choices (you can definitely argue against the choice he made, but it's not like the other options were worlds more palatable).

The interesting thing is that neither party is producing many people with what I'd call "normie" energy. For the moment, that's the best thing the current president has going for him, comparatively. If someone on the right could generate enough of that, he or she would be in a great spot in the general (assuming survival in the primary).

This might work.  The problem with Bud Light isn't with the beer, if you like light beer.

When hes found quilty it will be appealed and eventually reversed

One only has to look at the facts in the case to see that its easily reversable
Reversed on what grounds? From the US Courts of Appeal website:

Quote
The appellate courts do not retry cases or hear new evidence. They do not hear witnesses testify.

No matter what else happens in New York, Trump's biggest known legal problem is in Georgia. That's the main reason why DeSantis got in.

Normie?
Yeah. I.e., not too culture war embroiled/too online that you’ll be offputting to much of the electorate.

I think any other choice would be more palatable, at least to me.  The former mayor of Atlanta (K. L. Bottoms) for example is able to speak coherently and is reasonably likeable.  Even Stacey Abrams sound coherent when she speaks.  This presumes he'd only choose a black female.

I think Harris was the worst of the bunch by a good measure, unlikeable, incoherent, a political anchor, doesn't aid in home state, ...

Takes two to tango in any "war" (unless you invade a country(s) for no apparent reason, of course).

A whole lot of stuff is not "normal" right now.

There have been a lot of VP's in my lifetime, and I can't think of one worse. She has to be kept in hiding if she has any other ambitions. Being in hiding worked in 2020, so it can presumably work again.

That’s what I mean. If a candidate can give the sense of normalcy, that is advantageous, in my mind.

I don't think she is electable nationally, the dislike ratio is way too high, and the like ratio is nowhere.  There will be a normal campaign this time around, she;ll have to be fairly public in her speaking, same with Joe.  Neither are very impressive at it, it's amazing either have any political success at all beyond may town councilperson where no one else is running.

My guess from a pure strategy point was that Harris, at the time, had less baggage, more name recognition.

That is cloudy too.

Normal to me may not be normal to you, for example. (Not saying that is the case)

Oh don’t I know it (not between us, but between myself and others)

And I might be wrong. This might well be a year where having aggressively online/cable news brain carries the day. For now I’m skeptical of that.

I could list many including the statute of limitations has passed but I really dont feel like jumping any further into this we will just have to sit and watch
