Of course, it was meant to gain attention, otherwise institutions like that just disappear.

Fort Myers, Sarasota metros rank among Top 5 in "Housing Heat Index" (naplesnews.com)
Fort Myers, Sarasota metros rank among Top 5 in "Housing Heat Index" (naplesnews.com)

Some rankings for CDawg to enjoy.

A handful of Florida metros are among the hottest housing markets in the country.
That's according to a study by Bankrate, a personal finance website.

Here's a look at the Top 5 metros based on the consumer site's "Housing Heat Index" study for 2023.

  • Gainesville, Georgia
  • Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida
  • North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida
  • Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia, North and South Carolina

Rounding out the Top 10 are these metros, including two more in Florida:

  • Charleston-North Charleston – No. 6
  • Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro-Franklin, Tennessee – No. 7
  • Punta Gorda, Florida – No. 8
  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida – No. 9
  • Wilmington, North Carolina – No. 10

Bankrate uses data from a variety of sources to compile its index, including the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Realtor.com, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau.
been saying for years Florida is the future. best place to live right now in the US and it's not close imo.

doesn't surprise me that the west coast is on fire, lot more affordable than the east coast, particularly south florida where the home prices are just outright insanity right now. know a few people that have moved out and to Orlando area because they can work from home and get way more bang for their buck when it comes to housing.

Florida is an attractive place, no doubt, for many people, but it's not for me.  We looked.  Everyone has a different set of criteria for where they want to live, no "ranking" can take that into account.

NO! Everyone go to Texas. It's way more affordable. Plus they have the best Mexican food I've ever had. Apart from Mexico.

Good friends of mine retired in Sturgeon Bay.  They like it there.  They were from Minneapolis and don't like heat, at all.  Is that the wrong decision on their part?  Of course not.  Other folks who can live anywhere they want choose all sorts of places because they think it fits them best.  If you're interests are things like golf and boating, Florida should be high on your list.

A neighbor sent this to me.

I have not checked out the data, but if this is even close to accurate, well, let's just say the NAACP is FoS.

I don't think any "reasonable" black folks pay much attention to the NAACP and what they say.  Plenty choose to live in Florida obviously, and plenty visit.

In an annual ranking from U.S. News & World Report of the best places to live in the United States, one Midwestern city reigned supreme.

The list analyzed the 150 most populous metropolitan areas in the country, using quality of life, job market, affordability and desirability metrics in their methodology.

Coming out on top of the list was a moderately-sized Midwestern city that may leave many Chicagoans with a bad taste in their mouth.

U.S. News & World Report named Green Bay as the best place to live in the nation, citing a revitalized downtown, simultaneous big-city and small-town feel with a "thriving entertainment and arts scene."

Green Bay stood alone among Midwestern cities being ranked highly, as the rest of the list's Top 10 featured locations outside of the region.

While not quite cracking the Top 10, iconic Midwestern college towns Madison, Wis. and Ann Arbor, Mich. made the cut for the Top 15, being ranked 11th and 14th respectively.

Austin has dropped from #1 in 2019, to #40 this year.  My campaign is finally working!

Split the baby.

Everyone living in expensive cold places should move to Florida and Texas. Each is a paradise on earth and has plenty of room and need of more newcomers.
