I don't know why anyone would object to having an Al can bin outside.  We also have a trash shut down the hall for everyone.
I guess folks just wanted to throw stuff away without having to organize it into catagories

Having an extra bin doesn't force anyone to do anything they don't want to do, it's just there if you want to, same as with the glass and compostable bins.

I'm not talking about "many places", I would like an Al bin here.  The only rule here is folks are supposed to break down boxes for obvious reasons, and I see a lot of boxes in the dumpsters nearly every time.  Sometimes I pull them out and crush them myself.

Fort Myers, Sarasota metros rank among Top 5 in "Housing Heat Index" (naplesnews.com)
Fort Myers, Sarasota metros rank among Top 5 in "Housing Heat Index" (naplesnews.com)

Some rankings for CDawg to enjoy.

A handful of Florida metros are among the hottest housing markets in the country.
That's according to a study by Bankrate, a personal finance website.

Here's a look at the Top 5 metros based on the consumer site's "Housing Heat Index" study for 2023.

  • Gainesville, Georgia
  • Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida
  • North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida
  • Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia, North and South Carolina

Rounding out the Top 10 are these metros, including two more in Florida:

  • Charleston-North Charleston – No. 6
  • Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro-Franklin, Tennessee – No. 7
  • Punta Gorda, Florida – No. 8
  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida – No. 9
  • Wilmington, North Carolina – No. 10

Bankrate uses data from a variety of sources to compile its index, including the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Realtor.com, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau.

My parents lived in Gainesville after they retired.  It was/is growing pretty fast, far enough from ATL to have "lower" property values but close enough to feel the impact.  Terrible roads because of the lake.  The downtown was destroyed, leveled, by a tornado in 1937 or so.  It's a major chicken processing place.

We have such a dishonest and untrustworthy media. I don't know what can be done about it either. The hit pieces against the Florida governor are relentless, and many are filled with lies.

For example, the NAACP issues a Florida travel warning. The media runs with it without doing any homework. I'm sure we've all seen this, or something like it at least.

NAACP president explains why the group issued Florida travel advisory - POLITICO

Then we see a piece from the WSJ, which lays out some truth. This will not go far with the MSM and won't be widely read due to WSJ being a pay site. (I get to provide free links here as a subscriber.)

Finally, it's pretty simple to go on the Florida education site and find out what's really being taught in Florida.

African American History (fldoe.org)

This kind of crap really makes my blood boil.

Oh, and one more thing. The head of the NCAAP lives in.... TAMPA!!

I doubt more than 20 folks pay any attention to any NAACP "advisory" wrt changing travel plans.  I recall when the All Star game moved out of Georgia because of the "Jim Crow 2 voting laws", to a state with more restrictive voting laws in most ways.

The media push narratives, that's about it.

Atlanta charts (relatively) high on list of 'most affordable' big cities | Urbanize Atlanta
Atlanta charts (relatively) high on list of 'most affordable' big cities | Urbanize Atlanta

WalletHub’s study indicates the country’s median home sales price has ballooned from $313,000 in early 2019 to nearly $437,000 in the first quarter of 2023.

Prices may be dipping in some markets, but, as analysts note, that’s tempered with skyrocketing interest rates, which climbed from a historic low of 2.65 percent in early 2021 to 6.39 percent this month for average, 30-year fixed mortgages. Gulp.

The top 5 most affordable large cities on WalletHub’s Rust Belt-heavy list are Detroit (No. 1), Pittsburgh, Columbus (OH), Cleveland, and Las Vegas, respectively.

The five least affordable cities include usual suspects: Boston, San Jose, San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles (No. 68).

Well, it's front-page news nationally, regionally and locally. And it's BS.

Sure, it's in the news, but how many folks change travel plans as a result?

Or move out of Florida?

That wasn't the goal of the warning. It's just a hit piece.
