Guy who is planning to retire at 56 with a guaranteed pension after working a 9-month-per-year job is calling me rich?

I may be rich then, but not yet.

Pint-sized Midtown apartments charging $1.6K rents raise eyebrows | Urbanize Atlanta

Maybe I already posted this.

First came word of Old Fourth Ward apartments asking north of $15,000 monthly for sizable penthouse units over Edgewood Avenue.

379 square feet, without space for even a loveseat—and their starting rent prices of $1,674.

Some RICH people around here apparently ...

It's similar in Phx.
And that is the dumbest design I may have ever seen.

The most expensive small apartment in Phoenix is $3.13 /sf according to this, which would be $1,186 for 379 sf.  I guess that is similar to $1,674 in that both strike me as borderline insane.

And new apartment buildings here are sprouting like kudzu so demand must be there, or someone thinks it is.

Go into the arts. I'm not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something. ~Kurt Vonnegut

I agree.  I've taken up painting lately, being super wealthy and all.  I'm not very good of course, I'm probably a better writer which isn't saying much, but it's a thing.  Actually, I'm so ungood at painting I can't even tell what a good quality painting would look like unless it's entirely realistic.  Some paintings appeal to me, that's good enough.

We went to a concert last night, one of the pieces performed was "weird", modern music etc.  I was thinking "If they hit a wrong note, neither I nor anyone in the audience would know.".  It was just a jumble of sound.  They had a concerto for two pianos that was interesting, the performers were sisters, it also was a bit weird.  The virtuosity of these concert pianists is completely beyond my realm, and I play a little bit.

And I like walking.  When I was "working", I'd go to a buddy's office and we'd drink tea and talk about the ills of the world, and work.  Then we'd take a walk around the parking lot talking about cars, weather permitting.  One guy had a home built electric car, this was ca. 2008, with lead acid batteries.  He had a neat story about it, an old Jetta with a blown motor.  He bought the batteries and motor for a relative song, and barely had enough juice to get to work on a good day, maybe 30 miles of range.  He had it plugged into a 110 v outlet and had the hood up when we strolled by.  His name was Elon something ...

Your research needs work.  You're using an article from 2019.
A lot has happened since then, bud.
Try again.

Sorry, my bad, I didn't catch that.  I stand corrected, the current prices are probably about the same.  Dates are important.

Lucent Scottsdale Apartments - 2001 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257 - Zumper

$1799 for 438 sf.  At least it's over 400 and the floor plan doesn't look goofy.

I have a neighbor I chat with frequently because our dogs are best friends. He's a freelance handyman. He's been working on a house in Newport Beach for quite some time, and it finally finished in March and is now being rented out

The rent is $22,500. Per month. Plus 2,500 for access to one slip on the boat dock. The guy was going to pay 4,500 to rent both slips, but his other boat is too large to get under a bridge that they need to fit through to access on that part of the bay.

I'll say that dude is rich.

My neighbor? Not so much because he's easily mid-60s if not older and is still working because he can't afford not to.

We have two dumpsters outside the building, one is for general trash, the other is labeled "recyclabes".  We also have small bins for glass and compostable stuff.  I just watched a garbage truck empty both the dumpsters into the same haul.  The glass and compostable trash cans do go properly somewhere I think.  I'm trying to get one for Al cans.

they tried to do that in my community but the citizens revolted and the idea was shelved

I don't know why anyone would object to having an Al can bin outside.  We also have a trash shut down the hall for everyone.
