The Egg Lobby needs to get laying some lobbying and egg on Congress to do something.

Wholesale egg prices may hit $1 for first time since 2021 (cnbc.com)
It's about time.

Lots of people I know simply gave up eating them due to the cost.

We still bought them, because we need them as ingredients (not alone on the plate, of course).

We eat some maybe once a week (in grits), so it wasn't a thing for us.  It's a pretty good source of protein per $$, ask Rocky.

We eat a lot of eggs around here.  Average at least a dozen per week and probably more than that.  We eat them both as ingredients for baking and such, and alone, on the plate, because they are delicious.

Even so, we're fortunate enough in our earnings that the difference between $1/dozen and $5/dozen isn't a budget-breaker.  Going from maybe $5/month to $25/month doesn't affect us.

But eggs are (usually) a readily available and cheap source of protein and calories for a lot of lower income families, and I have no doubt that the prices hit them pretty hard.  Hopefully retailers will follow the costs down and some of those lower income families will get some much needed relief.

I'm not a breakfast eater, so I don't mind eggs and bacon/ham/sausage for dinner once in a while

damn fine grease

pairs well with taters, cheese, and beer

I dont think he loses much sleep worrying about what others think of him
I think that might be his biggest problem, to be honest. That man weirdly really seem so care what some folks think of him.

He honestly shouldn't.

Prices have definitely left a mark - for all food. I feel sorry for all of those people on fixed incomes. And we a whole lot of those in Florida.

Fried eggs served over a plate of enchiladas is one of life's truly special treats.

Same here, I've had $100 Kroger bills pretty often of late, not buying anything ridiculous, for two of us.  (Sometimes there is some wine in there.)

We've gone to more chicken and some all veg dinners at times.  My wife wanted to cut down on beef anyway.  We had lamb chops from Costco the other night and we get steelhead trout there, those make 3-4 meals.  She made lentils last night with leftover lamb.  Was good.  And dining out, ouch.

I get the Costco 3 lb coffee in cans, used to be $10, now $13, which is still a bargain, and it's good coffee.

I fear the Fed is going to throw us into recession soonish.

Same, except Publix. We spend $100+ every week there, and we get our meats elsewhere.
