Thomas has reported income from a firm called Ginger, Ltd., Partnership over the last two decades, but in 2006 it was shut down and replaced by a new firm, the report said. The new firm, Ginger Holdings, LLC, is similarly named, but there is no mention of it in Thomas’ records.

In recent years, Thomas reportedly continued to disclose between $50,000 and $100,000 in income from the old firm annually.

Clarence Thomas has been claiming thousands of dollars annually from a shuttered real estate firm (cnbc.com)

My GUESS is his preparers didn't change the name of the company.  It seems odd to claim income that didn't exist.  I don't know why anyone would do it, other than just a paperwork error.

I imagine I could "do a better job" if I was large and in charge of the US unfettered by all these rules.  One can dream.  I wouldn't want the job of course.

I once followed our VP around for the day.  I didn't want his job either.

From the NYT today FWIW:

Starting tomorrow, Fox News is scheduled to be on trial. Dominion Voting Systems, which makes voting machines, is suing the cable news network for $1.6 billion. Dominion claims that Fox spread a false conspiracy theory that its machines were rigged against Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

The trial had been set to start today, but the judge overseeing the case announced a one-day delay last night. Fox may be seeking to settle the case before a trial can begin, The Wall Street Journal reported.
We have already seen some of the evidence for Dominion’s side. Texts and emails uncovered through the lawsuit show that several of Fox’s executives, hosts and producers privately doubted the claims against Dominion, which were promoted by Trump, but amplified them on the air anyway.
Even with this evidence, Dominion may not have an easy time winning the case because of legal protections for media companies. Those protections were established by a 1964 Supreme Court ruling, New York Times v. Sullivan, based on the First Amendment’s safeguards for freedom of speech and the press. The ruling requires that defamation lawsuits by public figures against media companies prove “actual malice,” meaning that journalists must have known an allegation was false but broadcast it anyway or have acted so recklessly that they overlooked the facts.
“It is an incredibly high bar to prove,” said my colleague Katie Robertson, who is covering the lawsuit.
The case will test whether Fox’s brand of journalism — which includes a long record of spreading falsehoods (such as about where Barack Obama was born) — is legally vulnerable.

What happens to a crane operator if lighting strkes his crane?

I'm sure they are grounded well, is that sufficient to act like a lightning rod?

Maybe the center-right crowd should be called the Apathy Party.
Heinous lobbying rewarding the few and harming the many?  Shrug.
More kids got shot and killed by semi-automatic weapons?  Shrug.
Humans exacerbate climate change?  Shrug
.
The complicated, nuanced "fix" is simply the will to change things.  The thorough, wide-ranging legistation to forbid the shady outcomes caused by lobbying cannot be changed by apathetic people suggesting it's too complicated.  That's horse shit.
As usual your inaccurate info and lack of self awareness are stunning.

Hey, if OAM wants to crusade to end lobbying, fine with me, have at it, count me out.

Wouldn’t phase me at all to end it.  But like taxes and death- he is 100%wrong on where the money is coming from and who is benefiting- calling it center right.  🥴

‘A Real Chilling Effect’: A Lefty Scholar is Dumping CAP — For AEI - POLITICO

Teixeira, for the record, says that’s a massive misreading of the book, which predicted a governing majority based on the assumption that the Democrats could hold a healthy proportion of blue-collar white people, as happened in 2008. But Obama’s first win turned out to be a high-water mark, not a new epoch. Teixeira is in the camp that blames “cultural radicalism” for this failure, saying the noise around things like pronouns and police defunding have made many blue-collar voters think of the party as a bunch of annoying recent liberal-arts graduates.

Fro hasn't mentioned that particular lobbyist as being problematic.
